I'd be surprised if they will.

Then you haven't been looking at their numbers.

A family member booked with Spirit a round trip and couldn't make the outgoing flight due to heath. She booked a different airline there relying on the way back with the original Spirit round trip. Unfortunately Spirit has a no show policy and they canceled the whole trip and she had to buy a ticket at the airport. Anything to do now besides for not flying Spirit again? :P

i think all airlines have the same policy. if u miss the outbound then the return is forfeited. 2 friends of mine missed a flight by 2 minutes - swiss air in zurich. they got to the gate when the doors had just closed. and theyre whole ticket when down the drain and they wouldnt put them on the next flight or give them a refund!

I don't believe that is standard industry policy.

Very small planes. seats are tight. no leg room.

That's why I call them spiritual airlines. No gashmius.

Last year I took a trip to chicago with them. I brought a backpack and assumed I would be ok. After finally getting to the security checkpoint,
the lady glanced at my boarding pass, and without even measuring my backpack told me that my boarding pass needs to show that I paid
for a carry on. She promptly kicked me out of the line that I so patiently have waited in and told me I have to pay for my backpack at the kiosk
and reprint the boarding pass. $40. That sick excuse of an airline has until this day left a bad taste.

At least they didn't make you pay $100 for it at the gate, like they would now.

You realize you are just picking on them for no reason.
Unfortunately some airlines like United and American charge a $75 fee for award bookings within 21 days. So does spirit.

Its almost like you finding a one-way ticket on United to Miami for next week at a price of $80 for a paid ticket, vs deciding to use 12,500 United miles + $75 close in fee + $5.60 tax.

Was anyone on this LGA-FLL flight?
APU oil compressed into the cabin is the most probable reason for the smell.
I was the Best, still the Best, and will always be the Best.

This might not be the right board, but I am faced with an unfortunate situation, and am soliciting advice on how to handle.

Despite the fact that most of my extended family (brothers and sisters in law, and their families) flies a lot more than I do, they just don't seem to get certain things about travel, and often end up in unfortunate situations.

My BIL was going to fly back to FLL this morning, after a wedding last night. He calls me frantically at 8:30am from LGA having discovered that his ticket was booked for PM rather than AM with Spirit. Now this same BIL was once before stranded in ATL due to a Spirit cancellation, and had to buy a new ticket on a different airline, as Spirit couldn't fly him for a few days, yet guess the lesson of that experience wasn't learned.

I tried to help him, but unfortunately there were barely any seats available on any flight. I asked him if he has mileage (I believe I saw him previously with a Delta AMEX) with any airline, but he had no clue of what he did or didn't have. In the end he decided to wait around at LGA for Spirit's 11am flight and see if he could get on that standby (he didn't), and if that didn't work, was going to try a 3pm flight, which I discouraged him from even trying, not wanting him to be faced with Shabbos issues.

I'm inclined to post some rules/suggestions on a family whatsapp group, such as "the only way to fly Spirit is if you buy the ticket at the airport and the flight is operating with availability"; if you're not travel savvy, you'll save money by using a trusted travel agent and paying a fee; etc. Looking for suggestions on how to present this without hurting anyone. Has anyone tried educating people before on these kinds of things?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
-- Dan
