they all seem to have pretty good ratings- with the logitech one being the chpst...

I would really recommend this, I have it and its cool looking too plus it can play two cd's and its much cheaper!

but that has more 1 star ratings than 3 star...  i wouldnt trust it. (and ilive has a bad reputation it seems) but it sure does seem cool..

for some reason ive never seen an "ihome" speaker that didnt break or the ipod wouldnt sit straight on it without support

That's very strange because I've had an ihome for many years without ever having a problem.  And they have excellent reviews from others as well.

I ordered this Sony iPod dock from Walmart -- it's one of their cyber Monday deals.  Still available for $49 with free shipping to home.  It was well reviewed by a handful of customers on the Walmart website (as it's a Sony product, I assume those handful of reviews are not shills from Sony Corp).  The only negative review complained that the clock is too bright.

Just an update the above model -- my daughter's ben using it for a few months.  Works great and has very good sound.
