It seems that the now its more then just speculation, change is coming, to What extent is still unknown?

To transfer that many points would really depend on if you would use that many and how much gold status is worth to you.
Personally, I would at least wait to see if there will be a Starwood-AA promo.

If JonNYC says it's happening, it's happening. Transfer those points now if you want the status but beware that AA can make the change any day and disqualify the points transferred from MM status.
Or the points may retroactively post with a date before the cutoff and you'll be safe.
