I booked tickets on AA using Avios. I missed the flight, and as it was Friday, the only flight I could get re-booked on was Friday night. So got AA to put me on the later flight so that I could go cancel the tickets and get refunded instead of being called a no show.
But then when I called ba to refund, they said I was a no show. I called aa and asked them to cancel the tickets. I told them I know they can't refund, but just mark them as canceled and then ba will refund, which they did.
But then ba said they cannot refund because AA exchanged the ticket numbers to aa ticket numbers, and so they have no way to refund them. They said I need to contact aa to exchange the ticket numbers back to ba.
I've tried that multiple times, on the phone and chat, and no agent seems to think this is possible.
Any ideas for what terminology I should be using with either ba or aa to get this done?
