Real ID
« on: February 09, 2020, 10:24:47 AM »
New Jersey finally is accepting appointments. I have a GE card but it hasn’t always been accepted, as agents didn’t always recognize it. Now that my license wouldn’t work as a backup, should I err on the side of caution and get a Real ID one?

Obvious cons are $11 fee and having to make a trip to MVC.

GE card is a real ID. Shouldn't have issues with that.

+1
Used it twice, JFK & LAX, just to see if it would work and it did. In LAX it worked  with the new machine that they use to scan and get all your info, not requiring you to show your boarding pass.

I’m aware but I still have had issues so went back to using my license. It’s possible that they’ve since been made aware.

How long ago?

Let’s say 4-5 years ago. It may have changed since then but was recently refused at a non-airport agency a few months ago.

4-5 years ago the banks didn't accept my global entry card, now that it's so popular they do accept it. Now I only have issues at Staples when's the low level employees who have no clue what it is.
When I buy beer it's hit or miss if they accept it

True, but I haven’t really used my GE card since then because everyone was giving me a hard time with it.
