I would take that bet on the popular vote. Not happening.

My reasoning - I believe Trump will not lose any 2016 voters, and will in fact gain a lot more R and moderate voters that thought he was lying about policy in 2016. On the other side, I don’t see any Democrat that’s as strong as Hillary was, despite all her shortcomings.

No female has ever won the election, so it's easy to argue any D nominee will be stronger than Hillary.

Still think Trump will win an overwhelming majority unless Bloomberg gets the nomination.

I’m not dismissing any arguments as false as my belief is not rooted in cold hard facts, I just believe my argument will turn out to be the truth based on what I’m seeing.

Why are you so confident that Trump won't lose any voters? And why do you think Hillary was such a strong candidate? Did i miss the news cycle when she became suddenly likable?

Because if you voted for Trump in 2016 you weren’t all of a sudden surprised to find out that he’s not a classy guy. And if you didn’t vote for Trump, it’s because you didn’t believe he was competent or that he would do what he said. Republicans are far more united behind him now than they were in 2016. The economy is doing amazing. 2 Supreme Court justices. Tax cuts. Etc.

I didn’t say Hilary was a strong candidate. I think she was flawed, but still a more electable candidate than all the weak choices this election. She was the clear choice and the D’s put everything behind her. The whole “electing a woman” thing played a bigger role than now where every candidate is part of a protected class somehow. No one has their own appeal besides Bernie, and that is limited. The rest are  all there simply because they’re “not Trump”.

As i referenced previously on this thread, without the SC vacancy I don't think Trump gets elected. IMO, keeping it vacant was Mitch McConnell's greatest accomplishment of his career. Assuming all those that came out to vote for that reason will all come out again does not have a strong basis. Not trying to oversimplify as there a number of other factors that got people to vote/effected the election. It's all about the swing states and a moderate democrat that is more likable than Hillary can very much win some of those that Trump won in 2016.

The article was quite convincing until this line
Quote
What would stop Bloomberg from, say, offering every uncommitted superdelegate and every Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg, and Joe Biden delegate $1 million each to flip to him on the second ballot? And making a cool $500 million donation to the Democratic National Committee to ensure that the process of anointing him as the nominee goes smoothly in Milwaukee?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I suggest adding a poll about Bloomberg's greatest negatives in a general election:

1. His voice.
2. He's a New Yorker.
3. He ruled like a dictator in his last term in office.
4. He's always been part of the arrogant elite.
5. He has been a registered republican (when it suited him).

Did I miss anything?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

How come no one is discussing his bad debate night?   I mean after doing so well in the polls was this the beginning of the end?

On a side note, I love how the Ds are killing him. It makes me think that he will reconsider spending a billion dollars on someone who was so rude to him. I doubt he expected it.

While I thought that he would be the real threat to DJT, not any more. First of all he would not be able to stand against him on the debate stage, + now that everyday his rivals keep on bringing up more and more dirt on him, way more than any other D running, should he eventually get the nom, all this would come back very bad to hurt him.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

He was atrocious. It's probably been 50 years since someone uttered an unkind word to his face. He could not handle it. I thought he might cry.
If you don't care why would you comment?

But he did know what he was getting himself into. The only way to get to the Whitehouse is to partake in debates. Maybe he's hoping that they throw everything at him now and this way he'll be better prepared to answer them/Trump up down the road.

I'm looking forward to the retrospectives on Biden and Bloomberg's role in giving Bernie the nomination.
