McCain was beat up pretty bad by Obama last time. Obama is stronger this time around and it does not look like any of the R candidates will be as strong as McCain was. Anything can happen but I just don’t see it.

Obama had a very energized base last time that he simply does not have this time by virtue of there not being the anti-Bush vote and that he hasn't lived up to the hype.
And McCain was never that strong and picking Palin pretty much did him in if he ever did have a shot.

The problem is the republicans lost the young, Black and Hispanic vote. They seem to being their best to throw away the women vote. So by my calculations they will need 85-90% of the vote from folks like me (grumpy old white men).  :)

And if all the 10 (at that time) GOP candidates said they wouldn't agree to $1 in revenue even for a match up of $10 in spending cuts, while Ronald Reagan's famous tax cuts had $1 in new revenue for every $2 in cuts, the Republican party is in bad shape and dominated by extremists and hard liners who'll blow themselve up to push their agenda.

This is deplorable.  Listen to the way he says 84 THOUSAND as if the number is astronomical instead of dismal.

Funny.

The only reason Romney has a chance is because, unlike McCain, he A: actually wants to win, B: understands that it's negative ads that make or break an election.

That being said, every time he opens his mouth he digs a bigger hole for himself (like calling the mandate a tax! wtf?!?!).

+1 My money has been on Obama all along.  On the bright side, I think I would rather endure another 4 years of him and have then have better republican prospects.

You want to suffer through Obama's proposed tax plan?

If the answer is yes, then you either a) pay no taxes, or b) are a flaming liberal who believes in equality for all and redistribution of wealth.

Want? no. But I don't think Romney is the answer. If he wins, I'm sure we'll see another Democrat in 2016

If Romney wins and is just more of the same, I think we'll see a MASSIVE uprising in the form of the tea-party and we may very well see the end of the GOP.

I prefer Obama on domestic and foreign policies, but I have one problem with him winning the '12 elections: I get high blood pressure thinking of an Obama dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without the worries of getting reelected again.

If the answer is yes, then you either a) pay no taxes, or b) are a flaming liberal who believes in equality for all and redistribution of wealth.
you are a flaming conservative saying simple lies.
"You want to 'suffer' through Obama's proposed tax plan?"????
You would suffer??
He only wants the Bush tax cuts to expire for people earning over $250,000 a year, (or $1,000,000 according to the Schumer-Pelosi plan) which is a tiny fraction of the population,( and those people won't spend the extra $$ they earn out of tax cuts = no serious help for the economy).
Are you one of those people, so you 'suffer' from the Obama plan?
If yes, than you are probably the wealthiest member on DDF, and I wonder what you are actually looking for here.
