I think the driving force is simply that major retailers are enthusiastic about the cost savings, and not because this particular ban has any superior environmental merit. Kind of like shrinkflation, its a disguised price increase.

The retailers I’ve heard from are not happy about the ban. Paper won’t work as it’ll tear in the rain. Material bags are expensive. Plastic was cheapest. Not even mentioning the cases & pallets of plastic bags the stores have to discard. Probably enough to kill every last dolphin.

I didn't mean the local kosher grocery. Walmart, Target, etc have bean counters who will tell you exactly how much this ban will increase their share price.

Do the retailers have to discard the plastic bags? Can they sell them instead (maybe by the pallet)?

I think stores should start doing this per order
Charge 5 cents and sell them individually or by the pack

question is would they be allowed to pack it for you
or would you have to pack it yourself
