I love how the outrage seems to be focused not on him hugging women, but that he dared to do it while looking like a frum Jew. Does the oilam change into jeans and hoodies before they violate halacha? I wear jeans regularly, so I don't know how everyone else does it.
The sad reality is that many jews are not religious, that's a fact of life. The reason for the outrage is when someone presents himself as religious and then publicly violates halacha. It's like the pig who presents itself as kosher.
