Recommendations for baby carrier
« on: November 16, 2011, 06:22:53 PM »
I'm looking to get a, new baby carrier. I first bought a 15 dollar one in target but felt that it puts alot of strain on the upper back as there's no lower strap. I'm looking to get a good one that has that strap. So far I've found 2:
Infantino union ergonomic carrier
Jeep 2 in 1 sports baby carrier

It actually wasn't terrible except that there wasn't any lower support. I'm obviously not looking to spend $100 on a few straps. I'm looking more in the mid range.. $30-40

When I was in Israel visiting  Ir David I paid like 10 dollars to rent one. It was a great piece I remember seeing it online for over 100 dollars. I don't think you will get something decent for 45 dollars.

I have the "BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Active". it goes for about $100, you can find it for cheaper (one color is available for ~$92 on Amazon). I got it new, for (free as a gift, but it cost about) $70 from ebay. One of the best baby gifts that we got. It's definitely worth the $100, I still use it and my daughter is ba"h over a year.

So your saying that there are no of brands that do the trick for less money? Like- I got the maxi cosi stroller for 160 and it basically does everything that the bugaboo does. Many people have even commented how it even looks like it.

My wife swears by the baby bjorn.  We got one as a gift and then I find 2 in goodwill so she can have one everywhere.

You cant go wrong with babybjorn. We ve had ours for 3 yrs now and it s a great baby carrier. If i can remember correctly i bought it for $60 and you can adjust it based on the size of the baby and even the place the buckle will be in your back. Google "babybjorn amazon" and the first result is the one i have

I know this post is pretty old.

How long does the baby bjorn last? Read somewhere that once your kid is 6 months than you need a new one. Is that true?

Need to pick up a carrier for my upcoming SE Asia trip as many places we are visiting are not stroller friendly.

Age and weight of the child? For newborns to 6 month I use a Moby wrap, then alternate between an Ergo, Mei Tai (Baby Hawk is supposed to be great ) and a ring sling for the summer. Lot's of reputable companies out there. Bjorn is not great for your babies' development and puts undue stress on the pelvic bones (but many people swear by it)

Baby is 3 months old and weighs about 12 lbs. she will be close to 5 months when we will need it.

I'm not much of a fam of baby carriers, but I once used a carrier for a one year old for a hike in Israel. It was  similar to the link below. I don't remember the brand, but it was excellent!

We have Ergo and Beco Gemini. When we were in Eretz Yisroel last year I had my older toddler son on the Ergo for roughly 7-8 hours straight.

The above carriers are exceedingly better than the competition IME. The lack of back pain is worth the extra money. You truly get what you pay for with baby carriers.

Any recommendations for a good baby carrier that won't leave me with back pains. I need for baby and toddler.
