Barclay ring has a 0% Apr and 0% transfer fee
Not sure why no one ever mentions this when this question is asked

How long is 0% APR for?

This isn't a common topic on DDF, so rather than leave you totally hanging out to dry, I'm going to guess and make some assumptions. If someone knows better they can correct (or confirm) this:

I believe Chase Slate is the only card with no BT fee. And if you convert a card to it, I don't believe you get the 0 BT option (ie I believe it's for new accounts only). So, your best bet will be to transfer it to another bank and pay the fee. Might as well go with whichever 3% bt fee card let's you hold on to it the longest. Citi simplicity is 3% bt fee then carry it at 0% for 21 months, for example - not sure if there are cards that allow longer, but GIYF and check creditcards.com. At the end of that term, try and open a slate and bring it back to chase (although, be warned that opening a slate is subject to 5/24). This is how I would approach it.

And welcome! :)

Are you sure about this? can you elaborate?

AFAIK the restriction is transferring balances to slate cc from other chase cards

Great find...Because most of us don't keep up with BTs.
+1

Also, I have received Discover offers with no fee BT if done within a certain period of card opening.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Can I convert Aviator into a Ring? What BT offer am I likely to get?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

AFAF I am looking to get a balance transfer card.

The card application page allows you to request a balance transfer during application process. Is  there any reason not to do this? What if you request an amount higher than the credit limit they want to give you? Will they decline or just do a smaller transfer?

(I am going with Bank Americard. The balance is with Amex so I can't do Everyday and I am not sure I should do a Chase app with high revolving balance.)

Smart call for taking the BoA card.
It generally makes not much of a difference when you put the information in, unless it's a high amount they may not want to approve you for that much. Then the will usually do the BT for a smaller amount, so why not wait and do it later

Check the rates and fee ..
It's saying clearly : Either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater.
