Well let's start off with a canceled Italy trip, holding my breath on a Cyprus trip, and a stopover in Turkey on a business flight.

Probably taking my trip to Miami in 3.5 weeks. Unsure why I would have a less of a chance of getting sick there than here. I'll take extra precautions in the airport.
I'm not who you think I am.

Instead of talking about Trump, now every thread on DDF is talking about COVID-19.

Really just about the plane. Take precautions and you'll be fine iy"h.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

As a travel agent-

My whole day is occupied by clients cancelling tickets.

Getting on my nerves.

Thank God I dont touch mileage tickets - would be more of a disaster.

Because in Florida they're actively covering it up and in NY they're being proactive as they can be. No coincidence that the NY patient was just in Miami.

NY is working on keeping numbers low, too. Sometimes when doctors in hospitals who are following the Department Of Health recommendation to ask the Center for Disease Control to test someone, the CDC says no.  And no test means they don't get a Covid19 positive person.

To not find more cases of Covid19.

or they're saving tests for more pressing sick people
or the person answering the phone was lazy
or the CDC has different criteria than the DOH
etc

That’s not NY, that’s on the CDC. NY is taking initiative and developing their own tests after dealing with the gross negligence and incompetence of the CDC (who apparently are so reliable when it comes to advice). Florida is denying testing to suspected patients on their own volition, not reporting suspected cases, not reporting confirmed cases either. My guess is they’re in denial as a state that is full of old people and tourists.

No test kits available because they contaminated the few test kits they produced. It’s a simple $5-10 nucliec acid test that practically any lab in the country can replicate, and they only recently started giving them permission. My theory is they basically save the tests for close contacts of confirmed cases who haven’t yet developed symptoms. Bec. if they have symptoms and they suspect COVID they can isolate or treat them as if they’re confirmed without wasting a test kit. Same goes for anyone else that doesn’t fit their narrow criteria.

Meanwhile China, Italy, South Korea, Germany, have all tested tens of thousands of people and have the capacity to test more in 1 hour than the US tested in last 2 months. Even Iran is out testing the US by a significant margin.

The patient and his wife went to Bal Harbour, just north of Miami, the weekend of Feb. 15, his father-in-law said. The father-in-law said he hoped the virus would be contained, “but I’m worried.”

entire schools and shuls should have been tested where the infected persons attended, but that's not the case, they are only testing a few people
waiting for the virus to spread
