What is Ivermectin and How is it Used?

Many inactive ingredients found in animal products aren’t evaluated for use in people. Or they are included in much greater quantity than those used in people. In some cases, we don’t know how those inactive ingredients will affect how ivermectin is absorbed in the human body.

Ivermectin when used correctly is perfectly safe and can and has been used on human beings, yet most articles conveniently leave it out

Ivermectin should not be used to treat Covid. Additionally, it is extremely dangerous when people ignore medical advice and try to source Ivermectin themselves, because they end up buying the animal product, which can lead to hospitalization and death. Have I cleared this up for you?

We agree that there is a credibility issue. This isn't why, though. Medical consensus is that Ivermectin shouldn't be used. If your doctor thinks Ivermectin is good for Covid, s/he can source it for you, and the public messaging isn't for you. The issue is that people insist on ignoring medical advice, and compound the issue by trying to source their meds themselves. For all the idiots who try to buy the drug themselves at their local pet store, the messaging is very accurate.

That may be, but in this particular case some Americans have a stupidity issue.  There have been numerous calls to Poison Control Centers around the country from people who took the animal version of Ivermectin.  Some have been hospitalized.  Veterinary stores are running low on supplies of Ivermectin for farm animals. 

The FDA's mission is to protect Americans from dangerous foods and drugs, and that was the goal of the recent message.  How would you have handled this problem differently?

You don't have to practice, but you do have to ask dozens (or hundreds) of people about their opinions and then omit all the reasonable ones.
