Hopefully NJ is next. I hear there is a lot of pressure behind the scenes being put on Gov Murphy

I hate these "guidelines." 15 people in a shteibel and 15 people in a massive shul are not equal. To give a blanket guideline like that is pointless. Also, what percentage of shuls in NYC will actually (be able to) limit participation to 15 mispallelim?

Do we factor in people who will die as a result of going to stores which are open so they think it’s fine? Seems a leap less far fetched than suicide, which is at best a wild guess. At least with suicide they are making the educated choice to die.

I haven’t been able to find any significant uptick in suicide, please post a link.
Adults can make decisions for themselves, we don't need government to tell us what is safe. People stayed home before the stay at home order was in effect, and people are going out before stay at home orders are lifted.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I basically confirmed this with a Shul president who happens to be a high-level state employee.

You mean from reckless fools?
The rules won't help for them anyway
Just like the laws against drunk driving don't help for the idiots that drive drunk and kill innocent people
If someone is concerned about the reckless fools he can make his own choices how to avoid them

When someone drives drunk and kills innocent people they go to prison for a very long time. Should we do the same to people who put others at risk of corona?

How about 15 people per minyan ;)

I have no problem with penalizing those that recklessly infect other people I have a problem justifying the continued lockdown because of them

I fully agree as I have written a few posts up. On the other hand there do need to be guidelines which need to be enforced to protect from (happy?) reckless fools. There are just so many of  them as we can see right here on ddf.

So how does it work ? The highest paying membership gets first rights?  Or who ever attended the longest streak without missing a minyan?
   Oldest to youngest?

 That's sure stupidity IMO.

A shul like Agudah of Ave L or Rabbi Frankel in Flatbush or Rav David Cohen or any yeshivah, 15 people is a joke. That leaves more than enough space for each person to have 5 tables.

First start limiting Walmart to 15 people and liquor stores than we can allow 15 per shul! What a crazy govt.!

Does it have to be the same 15 at each minyan? Or groups of 15 that rotate so you are only sharing germs with the same group of people? Or any 15 and then you lock the doors?

Maybe someone should introduce the governors to the Israeli model of reopening shuls.

Also mikva'os need to reopen.

If both cars and alcohol would be illegal, that would further reduce drunken driving. Locking up people isn't a sane solution to these risks. Like drunken driving, you only outlaw the action which cause imminent danger.

Passing exposure like a store is not comparable to a shul.

Not sure that this would change much from what's already going on.
