“Tatty, can you tell me a story?”

“Sure! My neighbor’s father locked himself in his house for 3 weeks before Purim. His kids and wife got “fed up”, so on Purim, he came to his son’s house for the seuda (staying a few feet away from everyone, of course). He died. Now my neighbor needs to keep his outdoor minyan going because there are too many chiyuvim in Shul and he needs to daven for the Amud. The end!”

Always disagree with the other guy's shul decision in the other thread. Thanks.

You said like 4 posts earlier you didn’t want to hijack this thread. I guess your sentiment towards that didn’t last too long

Friday night in my shul in lkwd, the oilam was pretty careful, but by this morning it seems like it’s basically over. We’re just having more minyanim to keep things more spread out.
Btw, there was one guy that basically came dressed in a HazMat suit. Im pretty sure it was @S208 almost went over and said Shalom alecheim but I didn’t think you’d wanna socialize.

My Shul (which was open on Shabbos with restrictions) sent out an email that there won’t be shacharis on Sunday and everyone should please daven with backyard minyanim
My Shul same. I was rather disappointed on Shabbos that there was not even a minimal effort at keeping any restrictions (e.g. not one person was wearing a mask, when I asked the gabby before Shabbos if I should he said up to you... all they did was somewhat limit the attendance at each minyan to 40-50 instead of 200...). Maybe I'm missing something here, but if that's the case, then basically they are throwing up their hands and saying this is over so we can go back to regular life, in that case why not today also (for that matter given the fact that in this neighborhood there has been next to zero social distancing for weeks already especially WRT the kids, why not open 2 weeks ago?) And if there's a responsible adult saying that it's too soon to reopen either because of safety or aivah (not my intention to discuss whether I agree with that or not) then why allow the Shul on Shabbos to basically be open in a regular fashion?? I'm left scratching my head....

Check out the other corona-shul thread if you really want to be scared. We don’t learn from our mistakes and I pray to god it doesn’t come back to bite us

Reminds me of WW2 books of Jews staying in Germany and Poland, which I never understood until now.
I mean, I pray to G-d that they're right this time. But, yikes.

On the other hand, places such as Boro Park have been open for weeks now. We have not seen a spike in numbers, it wouldve reflected already.

This is precisely the stories people are fed up from hearing.

While the sad stories are beyond, the fact is that it's not Purim anymore. The fact is that there was a mere 20 hospitalizations in NYC yesterday on suspected covid cases.

I have a feeling that some people will be damaged from this forever. Soon there will be available surgery for masks implants.

Even if they're right and it doesn't cause an absolutely massive second wave... is there anything we encourage as a community that directly causes yesomim, even on a small scale? How are we ok with this?

Fake news.
It took months to go from initial spread in NYC to realizing it was there and everyone was dropping like flies.

If chas v'sholom there is even one death in your shul from this, are you willing to look the yesomim in the eyes and say, "But it was an acceptable risk?"
