Stats for the nerds
A Baal tfilah RH: risk of losing the amud chose to ignore the symptoms
A newly wed: risk of not being able to be by their parents in BP chose to ignore symptoms
Parents that came from Canada: risk of not being hosted by their children in Lakewood chose to ignore the symptoms

So you walked over, gave them a big Sholom Aleichem, and they told you?

Friend of mine is in a shul that has a huge tent for Corona positives and exposed and strict instructions for the above not to enter the shul. He says the silent shmona esrei in the main shul today was the loudest (coughing, sneezing, etc) he’s heard since March. Oh, and there was a bar mitzvah and kiddush with plenty of outside guests.

Was there a minyan, or just a couple of people in a tent outside of shul?

Forget weddings, what can be the excuse for a bar mitzva kiddush???

And this, ladies and genteleman, is the reason for the coming lockdown. Not the measures the State or Rabbanim took, not the hospitals, not the doctors. Quit whining and act sensible for a change.

How about a Kiddush with precautions not shaking hands etc. The same goes for weddings... Simchas are big spreaders but look what went on at simchas the last 2 months - people are shaking hands hugging etc... I believe simchas would not have been these mass spreader events had #1 oot not attended #2 social distancing kept to some degree - I don't think there is a need for an outright ban - why can't we call on people to act smartly at Simchas??

Because calling on people to act smartly anywhere seems to be too much to ask.

As far as I know - weddings/Simchas just slowly restarted and precautions quickly disappeared.. There was never any letters etc. Telling people Do Not Hug/shake hands. It was a people calling for a ban or at least outdoor small events... So guess what no one listened - I don't think It was tried..

Because we’re at a point where the virus is very prevalent. That should have been the case weeks ago when many posters very vocally called for it. Now we should probably wait until the number of infected carriers in the community subside.
