Local NYPD source claimed that if everything went well on Shabbos, limits will be raised to 20-30 for Shavuos.
It would be too soon to know.

I don't know but I've heard prominent Baal tzedaka in Miami Beach passed away Friday from covid19 he was 65.
I heard something like he was on a  vent for 5 weeks I dunno.

Just because you don't see these things doesn't mean that it doesn't exist
BDE. So he caught the virus 6-7 weeks ago. Where does that put us TODAY almost 2 months later? All this data and these "new" positives aren't all that relevant if the person had symptoms 5 weeks ago and isn't contagious today. How long is someone contagious for?

It tells you that there are people here that had it in assuming the people who still have it and assuming that it's still being spread.

Probably in a much lower scale. But Just because things are quiet does not mean that they won't get loud.

Just as all the NY / NJ folks were all chilled out Purim time

Articles like this make me nervous about shuls reopening:
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/05/why-do-some-covid-19-patients-infect-many-others-whereas-most-don-t-spread-virus-all

It certainly rings true that most people aren't spreading COVID19, hence why 1 person in a family has antibodies.
But it'll just take one super-spreader event to take down an entire community.

Hopefully my fears are unfounded.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Fascinating, and helps explain why some people don’t infect even close family members. I’ve seen this theory before but never so clearly.

Wouldn’t we then need a much higher threshold for herd immunity if certain people are way more infectious? Asking out of ignorance

The reality that in BP-Willy-KJ-Monsey that were open more or less for weeks already and no uptick in cases needs to be explained. And perhaps is anecdotal evidence that you’re fears are dumbfounded.

From what it seems it can take much more than 3 weeks to really start showing.

This article does give some hope to the idea that contact tracing if done right (may be too late) could work.

Source that there is not an uptick in cases? @ckmk47 has reported an uptick in hospitalizations, per Hatzalah BP

Based on what? From what it seems it was spreading in the community silently since Jan/Feb.

I guess if you yell a lot at your wife and kids they should catch it and if you are more softspoken to them they shouldn't ;)

What’s his source? I haven’t seen on any Jewish news sites about an uptick. Additionally BH our own DDF Tehillim board has been quite dormant Bh. But even if it’s true how are you gonna explain Willy? Monsey? KJ?

The guy in the choir had symptoms for a few days but thought it was a cold. The lawyer in New Rochelle who was a big early source of spread in NY was running around with symptoms for weeks (he had been to doctors and they couldn't figure out what it was)
every shul is saying if you have symptoms don't come. It is likely someone without symptoms is not going to be a superspreader

Heard directly from a Hatzalah member (it’s a her btw). I haven’t heard DPs from either of them. Have you? It always starts with a small number of cases, which slowly but steadily grows.. of course we are hoping that’s not the case but where is your confidence that it is coming from?

The tehillim list was very short for a long time before Purim. Does that mean it wasn’t spreading fast?
