Fake news.
It took months to go from initial spread in NYC to realizing it was there and everyone was dropping like flies.
Is that what everyone agrees now or it's just a hypotheses?

Huh? The consensus is pretty much that the frum community got hit very bad due to the mingling on purim. By Pesach, people were already "dropping like flies" as you put it. My point was that Boro Park is already open for more then 4 weeks. Bh there has not been a drastic wave.

Note: I am still davening at home, and i dont live in bp

And to be gleeful about the lack of precautions and the kiddush? But don't worry! We'll run a matching campaign.

I just don't buy into that tens of thousands of yidden are less concerned about yesomim than you are, obviously they truly believe that it won't cause ANY yesomim. Of course you can disagree and say they're misinformed, but let go the yesomim matching fund rhetoric please.

I'm not calling you out for glee, just responding to the idea that we won't be ok with the consequences.

Sorry, done here. Mods can move to the other shul thread. Or any of the blunder threads.

Growing consensus that it was much earlier than previously reported due to lack of tests.

Many people, including myself and a friend who came with me and other DDFers, very likely caught it at KWFE NYC on 2/17. Yet it took another 4 weeks after that to realize that people were getting sick and to close things down.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

This is precisely the stories people are fed up from hearing.

While the sad stories are beyond, the fact is that it's not Purim anymore. The fact is that there was a mere 20 hospitalizations in NYC yesterday on suspected covid cases.
I think it was DeBlasio who said in one of his daily briefings late last week, that at this point the daily incoming numbers are just about equal or less than the numbers hospitals expect from this family of viruses at this time of year regardless of Covid-19.

I have a feeling that some people will be damaged from this forever. Soon there will be available surgery for masks implants.
How many were there right before Purim?

Do you honestly believe that this is completely finished and we won't see a single death because of the shuls over Shavuos? Even with what you know about how precautions are not being taken?

It's to prove a point. We move heaven and earth to take care of the yesomim after the fact, giving money we don't have. But to take precautions to avoid yesomim to begin with? Too much to ask. We'd rather just donate later.

I truly believe so for the places that were hit hard and there were no new cases in the past 5 weeks. Nobody can promise anything, we just pray and hope for the best, but it definitely makes sense to reopen if we wouldn't close in the first place for such a far possibility we believe it is.

We didn't close for what seemed at the time a lower level and it cost us dearly.

Well they said the exact same thing around Purim time.
Who's "they"? The mayor? who said it's ok to visit the elderly? Who had a clue at the time?
