Any word from people arriving today within the 72 hour grace period?
My brother's in-laws-to-be arrived this afternoon from the US. They said no one at immigration said anything about corona, no one registered them, nada.

Double Wild!

So why would they bother making this announcement regarding quarantine of all arriving passengers??? This is bizarre. So these guys just got into Israel with zero issues just like until now?

We need to wait until tomorrow or Friday to see what happens after the 72 hour grace period is over.

It's really crazy. Especially because my brother called the Ministry of Health hotline and they told him that for arriving visitors there is no grace period, and that they need to self-quarantine immediately  ???
Very strange indeed.

So regardless of the fact if those brother's in laws to be were Israelis or foreigners they technically were required to quarantine based on what your brother was told. But crazy enough they got in scot free and I'm sure they were not the only ones.

Supposedly yes. Can't see how this would be enforceable or adhered to.
Enforceable with police... In Italy the army made sure the shuls were closed and throw people out of parks.

Right, so you expect the police monitoring every single shul and shtiebel in popular areas to count every minyan and make sure that nobody walks in to a minyan that has 99 people?! Sounds kind of detached from reality.

Shuls yes. But schools are not included in the Israeli rule of gatherings up to 100 ppl, according to the JP article:

"...schools, public transportation and places of work will remain unaffected by the new measure..."

What are people with purchased burial plots in Israel going to do with this? Even if the dead don't need to quarantine, they are usually accompanied by family members...

They'll just issue severe penalties for breaches

I got a flight Sunday to South Africa. Returning in ten days. Then March 30 I got a LOT flight to ORD which has NOT been cancelled. Anyone know if this “self-quarantine” will prevent me from boarding that flight out of Israel to Chicago. Thanks

Any updates from non-Israeli passengers (or if you know of any) who arrived after 8 p.m. today to Israel with regard to quarantine?

Anyone know the exact protocol for a us citizen to prove ability to self quarantine? I was told you need to go to the Israeli consulate before going to Israel.

Foreign travelers, including U.S. citizens, who wish to travel to Israel should request approval by contacting the Consular Department of the closest Israeli embassy or consulate five working days prior to the planned date of arrival with travel dates, flight information, and quarantine address. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, in exceptional cases, one may apply to enter upon arrival subject to proof of the ability to remain in home isolation for 14 days. Travelers are not permitted to self-quarantine in a hotel or dormitory. The quarantine requirement also applies to Israeli citizens and residents, including dual U.S.-Israeli citizens. The Government of Israel is continually updating its travel restrictions and quarantine policies.
