Help with hotel programs

I've been busy opening credit cards to accumulate miles for flying, and I'm now interested in racking up points for hotel stays.

Being that I'm relatively new to the hotel programs that currently exist, I would appreciate some advice as to which program is most valuable to stockpile points in (SPG,  Hyatt  etc.).

I'm mainly interested in a program that would allow me to stay in a solid (3-4 star) property at great redemption rates. From doing a little research SPG sounds very interesting with its Cash and Points option- low redemption rates and a little money. Are there any similar programs out there and if not, how do I get points into SPG, besides opening a SPG AMEX card?

Is there any difference between SPG and Hyatt? Doesn't Hyatt have much higher redemption rates for regular redemption's as well as cash and points?

Looking to expand into the hotel sector of earning points.
i currently have a SPG. what other cards/programs do you suggest? easier to earn on other cards and then transfer?
also what is the "churnability" of some of these hotel cards?
