I am excited!! Though the thought of going without DW is a bit disappointing. I'm sure I'll feel differently once I get on the plane.

The feeling might not change but it will simply disappear for a while.

Still working on that, will do Sea World and the Safari (or SD Zoo), wandering if it's worth to cross the border to Mexico.

Tijuana isn't that exciting, unless you want to say you've been to Mexico. If you do go, don't drive, walk. The wait can be 3 hours sometimes on the drive back.

My concern is about safety, Is Tijuana a safe place to spend a few hours roaming around?

If you walk in and go to Av. Revolución, the main street, you'll be fine.

+1. Last I was there they didn't stamp (or even stop you from just walking in. Now they have a new border facility so that may be different.

Staying at Pepe's Hideaway. Hubby will be working a few days in Colima so hopefully that volcano chills out!!

Also regarding Tijuana, I just went across the border with a friend and her daughter on 1/17 to get a bottle of Rumpope and grab a few tacos. We haven't been down there for many years. All I can say is NEVER again!!!! Scary stuff for sure. There was only a handful of Americans. So sad, the drug cartels have totally changed it. It took us 3 hours to get back into the good ole USA and we were on foot. The line of people was a mile long, 4 across!!! Every single person has to be questioned by an immigration officer. They only stamped the Mexican immigration form that you have to fill out when entering Mexico not our passport.
