please do yourself a favor and go to Venice for shabbos Instead of Milan. There is nothing really in Milan where as Venice is amazing to walk around and Chabad has a nice shabbos program set up. I've convinced a couple a people of this exact same thing and they both are very great full I suggested this for them.

He's going to a friend for shabbos. I could totally see that being a more comfortable experience than a hotel and Chabad for shabbos

Its also more comfortable in my house. But when I go all the way to Europe I go for the best cities and best experience. Sure if you want shabbos in a regular city with some nice arcitec go to Milan, but if you want an experience and spend shabbos in one of the most unique cities in the world I'd suggest going to Venice. Just my 2 cents he can take it or leave it.

Thanks. I will look into it (i.e. see what hotels are near chabad but fit into my budget). Right now, my tentative plan is leave YUL 7pm on sunday 4th, have a 6 hr layover in amsterdam on monday morning (enough time to take a quick dart into town), then arrive in rome at 4:30. I would spend 4 nights in Rome and take the train Friday morning to Milan, spend shabbos there. Sunday , take the 6am train to venice (short ride), and spend 2 nights there. Tuesday, I booked an easyjet flight at lunchtime from venice to paris. I will be in paris from tuesday afternoon to sunday morning and then return home.
I think the only questionable part is whether to go straight to Venice on friday instead of stopping in Milan for Shabbos.

Ah not so worried. She's a trooper. Going to TLV Thanksgiving so it'll be a little taste. She has a seat there too. Plus the road is not a plane. And te 8 hour stop in Frankfurt will help. (I'll get some beer
