Im looking into different options for creating online classes for an elementary school should they be required to close.

https://zoom.us Has free video conferencing accounts with a "40 min limit on group meetings". After the 40 min you can restart right away.

I noticed this: Zoom is removing the 40 min time limit on our Basic free account for schools affected by the Coronavirus. Click here to request this offer.

Is this the best route to take?

Here is some other info I gathered:
Whatsapp is super easy, but only allows 4 participants.
Skype or Hangouts doesnt seem to be the correct platform either.

They knocked off the audio part for the free plan

you need to pay if you want phone conferencing.

I imagine that they can offer more detailed guidance, both pedagogical and technical to interested schools

Phone conferences exist. Agudah and Torah umasora use them all the time. Trump had a phone conference with hundreds of jewish principals and administrators before sukkos or something.

You can see the participants if they choose to be seen but you might need to mute everyone because background noise can be annoying. But they can unmute if they want to say something. You can use it for as many people as you want.

Looking into something that will allow a rov to give the Shabbos hagadol drasha.

The free zoom limits to 40 minutes and only 100 participants. The basic paid zoom gets rid of the 40 minute limit but it still only allows 100 participants. The next plan that allows 300 participants is significantly and prohibitively more expensive.

Are there any other options out there?

Do you need two-way disucssion? If not, why not just use facebook live or youtube live?

That actually happened in my school. They had a link on their website. When intruders came they took it off the public website and every day then send an email to the parents with PW links or you have the zoom id.
