I think a lot of the confusion comes from the different type of masks. Most you see are surgical masks and will not help you for the most part. The second type are respirator masks that are extremely effective. The problem is you can't wear these for extended periods of time.

Studies show that all masks, even homemade ones are effective to a certain degree, obviously some more than others. CDC has been repeating non-stop that they're all completely useless.

E: With a virus that spreads asymptomatically for 5 days on average - and the viral load is at it's highest point - if everyone wore homemade masks we would all be better off. All masks help stop the spread of virus, even if it's not effective at shielding from it.

Every form of gov has been parroting every word of the CDC as gospel until Cuomo started speaking up. In regards to testing, don't test, don't tell was the preferred choice for states that wanted to bury their head in the sand. They played along with the Trump admin and said everything was fine. This most notably happened in Washington, Florida, among other states, and I called it out as it was happening. Cuomo understood that infected people were walking around NY and the CDC was bungling the issue in the most unbelievably incompetent way. It took 2 days to test someone, and the amount of available test kits per day were in the single digits. In addition, they wouldn't certify labs to perform a simple $5 nucleic acid test. Blame it all on politics, but as someone following closely, he yelled when he needed to, and continued to yell for the right cause. I also remember dreaming that Trump would publicly call out the CDC, but sadly that never happened.

It's obvious that NY isn't doing as much testing as they need (Cuomo says this every day), but they have made huge progress, having tested over 2300 people when last week it was less than 100. They are adding capacity as fast as the CDC allows them. Additionally, it was never NY's responsibility to test, the CDC had full responsibility over the testing, so it's not exactly NY's fault that they didn't have everything ready.

That makes sense but studies have shown that is not the case. The masks become contaminated then what? Does the induvial know how to properly take them off. Do they know not to touch them once they are on?

It is completely relevant. Anyone giving him an "A" is not thinking logically and looking at it in a political way. Can't have an honest discussion with that type of person.

An A means he did everything write. You really believe that is a logical position?
You believe saying it is the same as the flu or not as bad was the correct thing to say?
You believe saying 15 will soon be zero was the right thing to say?
If you want to give him an A then defend it. Not one person has yet to step up to defend the A they gave him. That speaks for itself.

Talking about politics, there was very little mention of politics regarding the virus on the forum for the past weeks, until this afternoon when it’s all politics all over again.

I have tried by best not to bring politics into this. It would be nice for someone to give the reasons why they gave an A. Many of us including myself have gave our reasons for F's and D's.
