Good q. I never tried. But i have a different non kosher phone that worked with kosher sims. Its a low end nokia model I picked up in Israel for like $75 at Office Depot. Does it have to be a kosher phone? Maybe you could pick up one of those.

I have an old phone that I used with T-Mobile years ago in the US, that I use with an Orange Big Talk SIM when I am in Israel.  I assume it's 'Kosher' as it has no data services (it's a samsung phone from before web browsing).

No, if the phone itself isn't kosher, then it wont work with a kosher sim

Well for 100 shek I can get the sim unlocked and use it with a regular phone. I hopefully have one coming for america soon. I would do 40 nis
