Can someone with experience please please verify if this is correct?
My year of BA Silver is running out in two weeks, and I am flying this week TLV-JFK business.
I need to ensure two things, with a third as a bonus:
1) That I have four eligible flights (I currently have zero) which count toward silver status with BA.
2) That I earn another 425 tier points to keep my silver. (I currently have 125 tier points.)
Flying tlv-mad-jfk-mad-tlv gives me 140 tier points per leg.
If I fly the return tlv-mad-bcn-tlv id even get 20 more tier points!
But here’s the (double) challenge:
To be eligible for BA, it needs to be an Iberia flight that is actually operated by Iberia. So I need four flight operated by Iberia… which I can do if tlv-mad (1) mad-jfk (2) jfk-mad (3) and mad-bcn (4) are all on IB metal.
If that trip gives me the four IB operated flights, I’m good as far as eligible flights… but still need to fulfill the requirement of 425 tier points.
If, in fact, I can do tlv-mad-jfk-mad-bcn on IB metal (140+140+140+20) than that should equal 440 tier points… which would allow me to take an elal last leg (bcn-tlv, or even tlv-mad and use the last leg on IB metal instead, switching the order), crediting those points to matmid where I’m still 150 points short of gold status, to get me at least partially there.
I finally feel like I’m getting the hang of this, but would hate to mess up my status somehow because of one flight I could have taken differently!
Thanks for your help, Chevra!
