Note that all sAAver flights available on AA.com are able to be booked on BA.  When there are many flights on one day, they may not all be listed on BA.com.  So you will have to call to book it.  Get the phone fee waved because it wasn't able to be booked on line.

NOTE: Household accounts will not allow transfers from Iberia to BA. Make sure you don't have a household account, and if you do, split it up.

NOTE: When booking, erase your Avios number when entering your passenger information. This will make it much simpler to add your AA Advantage number at a later time.

Does any know definitively whether transferring Iberia Avios to BA will reset the expiration date of the BA account? I recently did it, but on Award Wallet it shows the same expiration date as prior to the xfer.
Based off this, I don’t think it does.

What is the cancellation policy of canceled within 24 hours of flight for an AA booking?

Has anyone heard of issues with using avios for short-haul AA flights and cancelling frequently? Like, is everyone's experience similar to SW as far as infinite cancel/rebook and no issues, or would BA eventually consider this abuse and shut the account holder down? The cancels/rebooks are for legitimate reasons (biz meetings get rescheduled, etc) but I want to make sure it's not considered something that would get the account shut down or other abuse responses. TIA!

I had read a while ago of shutdowns--

reason-- by doing this you are preventing them from selling inventory

one or two times in a row should not be a problem doing it often just may cause you heartache

Yeah, I mean it makes total sense as to why they'd want to limit this. I'll try to be pretty sparing with the cancels then. Is it better to just no-show if I'm willing to forego the cost? I guess they should love that generally, since it's the opposite of limiting inventory- they get to sell it twice now.

Well I use these for last-minute stuff, usually a couple days beforehand- it's not out of hand yet but I want to err on the side of caution. In the past 3 days, I've done 3 cancel/rebooks. Not a lot in the grand scheme, but wanted to get a sense for what happened if I had 10 cancel/rebook in a month, if I'm gonna get shut down and lose a boatload of avios, etc. Thanks for the prompt response and the useful info.

I am far from being an expert and I too am conservative -- but 10 is hi for ordinary folks - one month with 10 maybe ???? ok---- I would guess keep doing 10 a month and trouble will follow

if you must continue -maybe book some with AA miles and the balance BA -- it "maybe " safer

Don't.  AA has a lousy cancellation policy.

I recall something that in order to get the cheaper rate for taxes in the eu, you need to have activity in your avios account in --- amount of months, can someone help me with the details ?
and will transferring from amex or chase qualify ?
and how long does it take till it sets to to give the cheaper taxes ?

Thanx

Cheaper taxes is by making an IB account and transferring your BA there. IB account needs to be open for 90 days before it can accept BA transfers.

Or you can transfer Amex / Chase straight into there.

I had my account for 1-2 years and can't transfer to IB from ba without activity taking place in IB account.

Wonder if that works to do a transfer from one to another to reactivate/extend your points in ba?

Domestic NYC-PHX

Does this mean infant is getting a seat or not?

If not - why are they charging avios? isn't domestic lap infant free

Infant is not getting a seat at that rate. BA charges 10% of miles for infant as lap child (nothing to do with operating carrier).

Since in this case infant is free with AA, just leave the infant off and call AA to add after (or just show up in airport and they’ll do it then).

Then Do like dan always says, add another adult or young child who pays for a seat. (But that would require you to pay full price for the flight.)
Or hope and pray there's an empty flight so you can snatch another seat.

That’s fine, it’s full miles. Just change the DOB to over 2.
