Note that all sAAver flights available on AA.com are able to be booked on BA.  When there are many flights on one day, they may not all be listed on BA.com.  So you will have to call to book it.  Get the phone fee waved because it wasn't able to be booked on line.

NOTE: Household accounts will not allow transfers from Iberia to BA. Make sure you don't have a household account, and if you do, split it up.

NOTE: When booking, erase your Avios number when entering your passenger information. This will make it much simpler to add your AA Advantage number at a later time.

Trying to book am award for someone else but getting the message " Due to restriction on ba.com, you must be a passenger to make this booking with Avios". I have never booked an award before. Now I thought I might have to add the passenger to the freinds list first . But I don't have a household account and also it says " We are carrying out some planned improvements to the Executive Club, which means that you are temporarily unable to create or manage a Household Account until the 17 November inclusive." . I tried calling and the wait is endless. Any suggestions how to work around this ?

Not sure if this works specifically with BA but for some airlines you can try calling their call centers in other countries and wait times can be drastically shorter.

Why is my account restricted in the first place?

My avios account is undergoing maintenances so I can't check right now.

If I found a flight for 15k LGA-ORD, is that saver? would I be able to book with avios?

LGA-ORD Saver should be 7.5k for economy and 15k for business.

I've just been using this to login:
https://www.britishairways.com/travel/book/public/en_us/flightList?onds=NYC-LHR_2021-12-22&ad=1&yad=0&ch=0&inf=0&cabin=M&flex=LOWEST

But not finding any AA awards on BA.com now, so not very useful. Post if you find any.
By calling in they do have available AA?

You can try reaching out to them, but not sure if they'll do anything, especially after so much time has passed.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

It seems AA raised the prices on all awards on the DTW-PHL route to 8k min. So now its not saver and BA/IB is not showing ANY availability on ANY date.

Another option I just "discovered" to extend the expiration date is to use Avios for a hotel booking (this is an option in the Spend Avios section). Found a cheap option in LAS (2,450 per night) and have no plans to utilize it - just looking to have some account activity. Would cancel but there is a cash cancellation fee- no thanks.

Pros: No cash layout and no need to follow up to cancel
Cons: Lose the avios

For this particular account I don't care about losing 2,500 avios to save the rest. If for some reason this doesn't work I'll report back.

Keep us posted plz. It’s possible if u don’t check in it won’t work. Look up “mattress runs”. Though I imagine it will work.

I would rank this hotel strategy pretty low on the list of available options.

Avios is transfer partners with Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Capital One. Do you not have points in any of those programs?

You can also buy Avios, starting as low as 1,000 points.

Agree it's low rank. This was a quick way to keep an account active with no out of pocket cost. Transferring miles in didn't seem like a good idea because of different names, etc.

Will definitely report back if not checking in ruins this, but the activity already shows up in my account and the miles were deducted. Hard to imagine canceling it out lemafreia and expiring my account.

Anyone ever have trouble booking an avios ticket for someone else? For some reason when booking a ticket on a family member's account I can't change the name of the first passenger. My account is fine.
A google search turned up this thread https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club/1920629-book-avios-ticket-someone-else-2.html
Meanwhile I called BA and waited on hold for forever. I finally reached the wrong dept and found out that British people don't speak English.

Any ideas?

I am trying to make a flight reservation for myself using my mothers Avios account (BA). Does anyone know why it is locked in that I can only book for my mother, and can't book a flight for myself, and is there any way out of this.

Is it a household (combined) account? If so, split it.
