Note that all sAAver flights available on AA.com are able to be booked on BA.  When there are many flights on one day, they may not all be listed on BA.com.  So you will have to call to book it.  Get the phone fee waved because it wasn't able to be booked on line.

NOTE: Household accounts will not allow transfers from Iberia to BA. Make sure you don't have a household account, and if you do, split it up.

NOTE: When booking, erase your Avios number when entering your passenger information. This will make it much simpler to add your AA Advantage number at a later time.

Same flight # is a single flight.
I believe JFK-YVR-HKG what's the plane stops isn't considered a stop for BA
Thanks!

Does it make sense it doesn't show up on ba.com and still be bookable over the phone?

Yes
Whatdaya think, no agent knows how to ticket it.
Waiting for a super... already one hour over the phone.

Its a good idea for NYC-MIA - a route very hard to find direct availability.
But there's a AA direct flight JFK-MIA with a stop in CVG. Ths flight doesn't come up on a ba.com search, but should be bookable with avios for 7500 miles.

What happens if I managed to book a ticket on a full flight, there's no empty seat for us, but we're ticketed?

Is it better NOT to call up AA and let them manage us at time of checkin?  ;)

Trying to book ticket from toronto to NYC on Sunday June 23 with Avios. Currently only flight is at 629AM. How likely is it for more flights to open up and do they add availability at certain times?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

No one is going to be able to give you an exact percentage.

Availability is dynamic.

Did you check business availability? It's only 9k avios and often the availability is much better
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Looking to book a ticket for my wife from NYC to the Caribbean on AA metal using BA points. Her current passport is under her maiden name and I will likely switch it as she is almost out of pages although I am not positive. If I book under her married name and do not switch the passport is that trouble? If I book under her maiden name and I do switch the passport it that an issue? Trying to figure out the easiest way to do this.

Book with maiden name and bring marriage documents with you.

Gotcha. That would work with a passport in her married name I'm assuming. Does that take a lot of extra time at the airport?

BA Avios question(s)
« Reply #576 on: June 17, 2013, 08:12:35 AM »
Hi everyone,

I don't know if something changed with BA (Avios) reservations in the past few months, but I began stocking up on them last year when I saw I could fly from PIT to the Caribbean for a reasonable amount of Avios (as compared to other miles). Now, when I try to look for flights practically every search comes up with an error that BA doesn't fly there (or their partners).

If I look on the OneWorld map I see the O.W. Hubs and there are flights listed from PIT to MIA, for example, but I get the flight error. In fact, the only flight out of PIT I can seem to find is one to Dallas, TX or one to New York. New York would even be fine because they list a flight from JFK to SXM, but when I search for that it comes up with the error too...

I think I may have really screwed up by accumulating several hundred thousand Avios while I live in Pittsburgh... can someone give me some advice on what I might be doing wrong (Hopefully, I AM doing something wrong). I accumulated the Avios because of the supposed short-haul in US (and Caribbean) options, not for Int'l travel.

Thanks :(

But there's a AA direct flight JFK-MIA with a stop in CVG. Ths flight doesn't come up on a ba.com search, but should be bookable with avios for 7500 miles.

Did you search by segment? Doesn't it always come up on BA if it's on AA?

Thanks--I know I can call them, but I hate to make that a first resort when it seems like I must be doing something wrong since my Avios are practically useless flying out of PIT to just about anywhere... that can't be right.

AA flies to a lot of places out of PIT. MIA is a OneWorld hub... there are clearly flights between PIT and MIA, but I get the error message if I try to use the website (the way I am doing it, anyway).

Can someone who has used Avios before (I've never used them...just accumulated them at this point) just "pretend" you are originating in PIT and see if you can get to the Caribbean somehow? Just to see if it is working for someone for whom it has worked before?

Thanks,

PDG
