If I book a ticket (one way) jfk-tlv on air berlin but not sure if i will take it- am i able to cancel it closer and get back my points and money? If yes when do i have to cancel it by? Thanks

and if i cancel more then 24 hrs before the flight I iwil get back 30k points plus the tax of $20 and change? reason i am questioning is bec its in 2 months for a wedding but i do not know now forsure that i will wanna go but it is available right now on air berlin? Thanks

You will loose the tax if it's less than $40.

After 24 hours of booking you wont get back the $20.

I booked tickets from Israel to NYC via AirBerlin for two adults and one child for 60000 avios and $1700.

Will none of the passengers be able to claim reward miles (on BA or AA) since I used Avios to make the booking?

Really? How? The cheapest flights I've found would come out to a total of $3000 altogether (May 19th to 29th).

You can have a direct Delta flight for around $23-2400. Sell your Avios and you will be making a profit.

It's no fun flying with a stop when you have a small baby.

Let me rephrase. You didn't get a steal of deal, there is better use for that.
