Note that all sAAver flights available on AA.com are able to be booked on BA.  When there are many flights on one day, they may not all be listed on BA.com.  So you will have to call to book it.  Get the phone fee waved because it wasn't able to be booked on line.

NOTE: Household accounts will not allow transfers from Iberia to BA. Make sure you don't have a household account, and if you do, split it up.

NOTE: When booking, erase your Avios number when entering your passenger information. This will make it much simpler to add your AA Advantage number at a later time.

Different combinations were different amounts.  Stopover in USA adds 4500 points to the cost.

I checked AA right before Shabbos. They had JFK --- MAN nonstop! (Earlier in the day they only had early am flights to ORD or PHL and evening connections to MAN) for 20K points and $77.50 (2.50 and $75 close in fee). So I booked it.  4500 avios vs $72.50 and a non-stop.  For me no question.  Since BA has no close in fees, it's much more useful for me to save for later use.
Then I had to cancel my Avios flights on the phone.  I was stuck doing that until lighting candles.

Don't u have to pay fuel surcharges when using avios for transatlantic aa flights?

Very strange.
On Fri morning my search through both BA and AA seemed to indicate that the JFK -- LHR route - even with a stop elsewhere in the USA - had a fee of about $275.
The LGA departure was fee-free (except close-in fees and the $2.50/ leg).

There was no JFK --MAN.  Only JFK -- LHR -- MAN.
So maybe JFK -- MAN, like leaving from LGA, has none of those fees.

As of now they don't charge yq on us airways flights
Then again, maybe that was the difference.  When I was looking at flights, I didn't look at which carrier each flight was.

When I look for international flights on ba I always look at who the carrier is

On Aa, Ba, Qr and a bunch of others you have to pay huge fuel surcharge fees for transatlantic flights. As opposed to Ab, Us, Aer lingus etc.. where you don't.

has anyone had success with Dan's main page suggested workaround of booking a flight for 4500 miles + $2.50 and then cancelling after 24 hours to renew for 36 months without losing miles via expiration?
I've seen it quoted but would feel better having heard it worked? Lot of miles at stake  :D

Dan tells everyone to do it, so I assume he knows it really works.  You can always take the flight. ;)
