Note that all sAAver flights available on AA.com are able to be booked on BA.  When there are many flights on one day, they may not all be listed on BA.com.  So you will have to call to book it.  Get the phone fee waved because it wasn't able to be booked on line.

NOTE: Household accounts will not allow transfers from Iberia to BA. Make sure you don't have a household account, and if you do, split it up.

NOTE: When booking, erase your Avios number when entering your passenger information. This will make it much simpler to add your AA Advantage number at a later time.

Does he have a 'household account' ?
Otherwise you should be able to book tickets in anyone's' name.
Is account holder flying? no
Then just input the flyer's name, even if they are not on a saved list.
To pay, put in a 'new cc'.  Then ignore the name they put on the card, just input your correct card info.

A 'household account' this forum said you can only book members of the account.  That is probably your trouble.  But i seems that you managed to get around it.
If it lets you put in a new cc.  Ignore the name they use as the card holder.  Just use all your cc info and it should go through without a problem.

Separate information:
In the last 2 days, the time between making the booking and getting the confirmation email has been tremendous.  I got the confirmation window with the booking reference (that may have taken a few seconds longer, too), but the email came 12 hour later!

If I get delayed on a different ticket and miss my flight from VIE to TLV on Niki using BA miles, will they let me fly on next available flight?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Should Usairways card give me free bags on American flight booked with BA?

cmiiw, I don't think it gives you free bags on aa if even booked with us/aa miles.
Always use an Amex, you'll thank me one day.

I flew aa on booked with ba points. They did not want to recognize that I have a AA credit card. I paid with my AA credit card for the bags . when I got home I disputed the charge my claim was that I should have gotten free bags because I am a AA card holder. and the agreed and closed the case in my favor

To pay triple the price in points for a 1 hour flight in an economy plus seat, not such a great redemption IMO. Maybe for NYC to YYZ where it is only double.

you could've added your aa ffn number into your reservation through finnair or RJ and you have received the free bag

I believe I added it on ba and it showed on the itinerary. But the check in agent claimed that I did not buy the ticket with this citi AA card. Therefore I do not qualify for free bag. I did not have time to argue so I just paid and took care of it when I got home

Shoot! Is that a requirement? Work paid for my upcoming ticket OW and the other way, I paid the $5.60 in fees with an SP. When I've taken US flights in the past, I did not pay with my US cc and wasn't asked any questions about checking bags. Could it be YMMV with the agent?

IME as long as you add the FFN in advance you won't have a problem (this is only if the system gives you you free bags automatically (which it should) otherwise, you likely won't be able to get them to deduct it manually...)
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.
