In many cases, you don't need to confirm it's COVID19.  If the schools are shut, you can all just stay home together. Anyone leaving the house for work or other need, should have no symptoms and be careful where they breathe, cough and touch.
Not easy, but in most cases the tests will be positive, so why bother testing?

Confirmed with several practitioners that there are no rapid tests available so whatever they are testing is not rapid.

Quest is only sending 10 tests per account and not rapid testing. Takes 3-5 days. This is an unmitigated disaster. Spoke to a provider that runs 20 clinics and employs 100 doctors in Brooklyn not 15 minutes ago. He is livid at the testing response. Been on the phone with the CDC hotline they refer to NYC DOH which when you choose the proper phone prompt transfers you to Poison Control

That is an off brand test with unconfirmed accuracy.

There needs to be a mucus buildup for testing to be effective, so a fever or cough isn't necessarily enoughDon't know where she's located but In Lakewood there's people who have been tested at chemed. And in Brooklyn there's definitely people being tested..

Tell them to go there, If they have symptoms and possible reason to believe they have it they'll give them the test.. there's plenty of people who have gone and got it

If the person is sick, but ok, stay home and wait it out.
If a person is sick and has trouble breathing or other bad signs, go for medical help.
Knowing whether it's COVID19 or influenza makes no difference most of the time.

Need to do a full repiratory panel for 24 other diseases and also regular flu before they will test for this.
