But how many of those tests are for those who were just exposed to someone who tested positive and is not showing any symptoms? For those with symptoms and who tested negative for strep and flu I would imagine numbers are much higher.
Are they testing people who are asymptomatic?

Just heard Asisa in BP got back their first batch of cases with over a hundred testing positive.

https://boropark24.com/over-a-hundred-boro-park-residents-test-positive-for-coronavirus/

If this is true it just proves my point: If you test, then there will be more positive results. If they wont test (like in NJ) then there will be artificially low numbers.

In NY? Yes. I believe most of the students at Manhattan High School were tested although they were not showing symptoms.

So my guess is you probably fall somewhere between the 14% in NY and the 52% in NJ.

Keep in mind, the positive rate in NY is only ~14% (just under 1,400 cases with just over 10k tests as of this morning), while we definitely should get enough tests available, the overwhelming majority of those with "symptoms" do not have COVID-19. Presumably those with symptoms who did not have any known contact have an even lower chance of testing positive.
Where are you getting this info from? I personally know a office in NY who tested people with little to no symptoms (they didn't require at all having contact with someone who was testing positive) and got back %50 positive.

Those are the numbers released by the state this morning

I would assume closer to the percentage in NJ, as NY is testing those without symptoms. I am not saying that I definitely have it- My point is that if NJ can't or won't test those with all symptoms of Covid-19 and is treating these patients as having a regular virus (not taking any extra precautions) then there is no chance of getting this outbreak under control.

I had a confirmed exposure (someone on my flight to Israel), but couldn't get tested because I was asymptomatic (I'm, B"H 2 weeks out of my exposure and no symptoms). I know others who had confirmed exposures that were also asymptomatic, but were still tested. In NY (at least in Westchester County) even in the New Rochelle Drive-through testing, you still need to get verified by phone before you can go.

First decent piece of information. Please read.

Message by Moriel Alvarez, Professor of Infectious Diseases at CHu: The four serious cases today are all young people with no basic pathology.  Everyone consumed anti-inflammatory drugs at the beginning of the infection, so be careful not to take anti-inflammatory drugs in the event of early symptoms as this can cause the disease to progress to serious form.
: Advil, Nurofan, Ketopropane, Parapenid, Waltran, etc ...
Information from a researcher who has collaborated with the work group fighting the viral virus epidemic:
Here we send clear, simple and accessible information to everyone, describing exactly what the Covid-19 virus (Coronavirus) is, how it spreads from person to person and how it can be neutralized in life every day.

Infection with the virus does not cause colds with runny nose or oily cough, but dry cough is the easiest thing to recognize.

The virus does not withstand heat and is exposed to temperatures of 26-27 degrees, so hot drinks such as tea, herbal tea or soup during the day, or simply hot water should often be eaten: Hot fluids neutralize the virus, so avoid drinking ice water.

And for those who can do it, expose yourself to the sun!

 1. The size of the virus is quite large (about 400-500 nm in diameter), so any type of mask can stop it: In normal life, special masks are not needed, enough simple masks.

On the other hand, the situation is different for physicians and healthcare professionals who are exposed to high viral loads and must use specialized equipment.

 2. When the virus is found on metal surfaces, it survives for about 12 hours.  So when you touch metal surfaces like door handles, home appliances, bus rods, etc., wash your hands well and dispose of them thoroughly.

 3. The virus can live nesting in clothing and fabrics for about 6/12 hours: regular detergents can kill it.  For clothes that cannot be washed every day, you can leave them in the sun for a long time, the cubid 19 will not resist.

How Covid 19 comes to light:

 1. The virus first sits in the throat, causing inflammation and dry throat sensation: this symptom can last for 3/4 days.

 2. The virus then passes through the existing airway moisture, descends into the trachea and then sits in the lungs, causing pneumonia.  This phase lasts about 5/6 days.

 3. Pneumonia occurs with high fever and difficulty breathing, but is not accompanied by conventional tremor.  If you feel that you are choking, contact your doctor immediately.

 How can you avoid it?

 1. The virus is transmitted mainly in direct contact, by touching the fabrics or materials on which the virus is found: it is essential to wash hands frequently.

The virus only survives on your hands for ten minutes, but in ten minutes, a lot can happen: smear your eyes or scratch your nose for example, thus letting the virus get down your throat ...

Therefore, for your benefit and for others, wash your hands frequently and disinfect them!

 2. You can gargle with a disinfectant that eliminates or minimizes the amount of virus that can penetrate your throat, eliminating it before it goes down to the trachea and then into the lungs.

 3. Disinfecting the keyboard of computers and mobile phones.

In addition, Covid19 may not show signs of infection for many days, during which it is not possible to tell if a person is infected or not.
But when you have fever and / or cough, the lungs are usually 50% clear.
That's why experts offer a simple test that you can do yourself every morning:
Take a deep breath and stop breathing for more than ten seconds.  If you do this without coughing, a feeling of suppression, etc., it shows that there is no healthy fibrosis, which actually indicates a lack of infection.

At such critical times, this should be checked every morning in a clean air environment.

This is simple information and advice from doctors who treat COVID-19 cases.

Another simple tip, we need to keep the throat moist, as dry as possible.  Drink a few sips of water at least every 15 to 20 minutes.
Why?  Even if the virus comes in here ... water or other fluids
Pass through the esophagus to the stomach.
After the stomach, stomach acid will kill the virus.  If you do not drink enough water regularly, the virus can enter your lungs more easily.

Where did you see this and does anybody have any peer-reviewed medical credentials on this ?

@jj1000  fil was taken aback when we we're discussing how big medical marijuana came and I mentioned how there was not a single peer reviewed medical paper that could collaborate any results he was like "are you secretly some kind of doctor ?!?"

But realistically speaking you can't post these type of things without backup
