Those were global statistics. US is said to be multiplying twice as fast as Italy. Another figure I saw quoted was doubling the cases every 4-7 days. That is from 1 case to over 16,000 in less than two months!!
We are not talking feeling or opinion here. We are talking statistics from the reported (less than reality most likely) numbers reported by each country.

They have been doubling every three days. On 3/5 there were 236, 3/8 572, 3/11 1287, 3/14 3010. New cases have a similar pattern. 3/5 had 75 new cases, 3/8 121, 3/11 247, 3/13 700.

While I agree that it's better to be overprepared than underprepared, the people that I've spoken to in the industry do not see any supply line disruption. Sure, they could be wrong, but even in Italy, supermarkets and pharmacies are still stocked. I do think that when people see stores still fully stocked in two weeks, they will calm the hell down.

The toilet paper thing is madness. There was an article in the NYT describing how there are no real shortages, just idiots panicking.

DW came home from Sams with looked like a 100 roll package. I said what are doing. She said we are almost out and that is what I always buy.
Had a hard time getting my foot out of my mouth.

They havent been testing!!!

It doubled over shabbos alone in NYC. Stop comparing us to Israel. We will have 1000 cases by tomorrow, not the end of the week as the Mayor is claiming. Theyre finally testing in some places. My daughter had an office full of feverish patients last night in her urgent care without a way to test.

Email from my son's yeshiva:
"In regards to the COVID-19 virus, Yeshiva is taking all necessary precautions for the safety of our Talmidim.

Every night, the entire building is being disinfected, all desks are being washed down, and no large assemblies will be held for the time being. All Talmidim must was their hands before entering the building. Any Talmid that has a fever or cough should remain at home.

We are also monitoring the NYS Department of Education recommendations regarding any steps that need to be taken and how to react to various scenarios.

The Yeshiva will have regular schedule starting with Shachris. We will be saying Tehillim after every Tefillah.

If you do keep your child home, please contact Rabbi ...

Through the Koach of Torah and Tefillah, may Hkb"h protect us together with all of Klal Yisrael."

Their necessary precautions and safety measures include inviting an entire other yeshiva that is closed because 4 Rebbeim are suspected of having been exposed to COVID to use their beis midrash. Took my son out until this is over.
