They havent been testing!!!

It doubled over shabbos alone in NYC. Stop comparing us to Israel. We will have 1000 cases by tomorrow, not the end of the week as the Mayor is claiming. Theyre finally testing in some places. My daughter had an office full of feverish patients last night in her urgent care without a way to test.

You too in denial? ? ? ?

IMHO close to 1,000 cases in my neighborhood alone. I just got word from someone who was at my office last week that he and his wife had mild symptoms. His wife tested positive, so they didn't bother testing him. The good news was that what prompted them to be tested was that an elderly family member of his had serious symptoms, tested positive, but BH seems to have recovered.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

770 is unique in that the yeshiva is open for Pesach, with hundreds of Israeli (and some others) bochurim there.

Then how can the Governor say there are 600 cases statewide? Of course there are more cases. They are just not testing!!!
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

He's literally been making this point. There are really tens of thousands. This whole thing will explode as more and more of these untested cases end up being serious.

And there was I believing my entire life that earwax is shelf stable and will not get moldy. But I guess in the digital age they just don't make 'em like they used to.

I don't know why anyone goes to 770?!? It should be locked up!!

Do you think hanging a couple signs is going to help? especially in a place that is notorious for ignoring signs for the last 50 years.

770 is never locked (except when cleaning for Pesach or setting up for something).

As for signs being ignored, well I guess that includes quotes from the Rebbe's sichos which are posted on the walls.

Same for Crown Heights.

Instead of social separation and doing things that will actually help, people are stocking up on food. I can't blame anyone, the guidance has been sorely lacking.
For weeks, all but complete silence, now this:

Hashem will help, everyone should be healthy and safe.

COVID-19 Update for the Crown Heights Community

From the medical and rabbinic leadership

1: At this time, COVID-19 has reached epidemic proportions in our community, with many people affected.

2: If you have ANY of the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, weakness, or diarrhea, consider yourself as presumed positive for COVID-19.

For most, this is a mild illness with a quick recovery.

At this time, we are not recommending that those with these symptoms get tested.

3: If you are sick with these symptoms, STAY HOME. Take care of yourself with hydration, rest, analgesics (anecdotally, Tylenol better than Advil).

DOH guidelines: For all those presumed infected, stay home for at least one week after onset of symptoms or 72 hours after fever abates, whichever of the two is longer.

If symptoms are not improving after 5-7 days and especially if you’re feeling worse, in particular with shortness of breath, you must seek help.

4: IF YOU ARE ABOVE THE AGE OF 65 OR HAVE ANY CHRONIC ILLNESS:

YOU ARE AT SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER RISK OF SEVERE ILLNESS.

YOU MUST ISOLATE YOURSELF FROM ALL PUBLIC ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING SHUL, MIKVAH ETC.

PLEASE TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY!

  — This is a rapidly changing situation. As new developments arise, we will continue to use these news outlets to deliver updates to the Crown Heights community —

The Gedaliah Society, a network of Chabad medical professionals, in conjunction with Dr. Eli Rosen and Hatzalah.

The rabbonim of the Badatz of Crown Heights are reiterating their call in their public letter that these guidelines must be adhered to as actual Halacha for all practical purposes.

Is it a plus to have your community hit hard at the beginning? They have the equipment available to give you the best chance, no?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Those have been my thoughts, along with the hope to return to normalcy sooner.

I've been thinking the same, on the other hand it also means being guinea pigs because less is known about the virus now.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.
