There are also reports that it is no longer possible for Canadian spouses of US citizens to accompany their spouse across land borders into the US, even those Ontario which until recently allowed this.

Multiple anecdotes. Heard of someone who called the Buffalo border crossing, and they told them they would no longer accept spouses

Oh well. Hopefully they'll open it soon, at least for vaccinated travelers...

I'd be happy to fly and let my wife drive with the kids

but she won't do it alone, and flying from YYZ to BUF to meet her there requires flying all the way to ORD/PHL/IAD to connect back to BUF. Pain in the neck.

Best option right now looks like a 1 hr connection in IAD. 4 hr trip time to get to BUF to meet her. Or we might just all fly.

Canada is known to be particular that the test be taken out of country, on the US embassy website it doesn't mention it specifically (I have no dp).

Just landed in BUF after flying YYZ>ORD>BUF. Ridiculous that this is the best option. You can literally see Toronto on the way back to BUF.

Still don't understand why when you fly they allow you to go and to drive they don't?

What's the current situation for a Canadian Citizen going to Canada from the USA? Needs a PCR test?
And is one allowed to fly into Canada, is the 2 week hotel quarantine still in effect? Or only drive through the border?

AFAIK if you're fully vaccinated it's the same whether you fly or drive- PCR test before, rapidly test at entry, proof of vaccine, arriveCan for all your info, no quarantine.

Curios does any of the agents at the border crossing actually enter your Vaccine information into the system and pull up the official results?

And it seems if one doesn't have a Vaccine, a covid19 pcr test and then 14 day quarantine?

You could upload on ArriveCAN not sure if it actually verifies.

If no vaccine you must be eligible to enter.
