Everyone I spoke to told me they have a stack in their basement or their kids played games with them. One person said he tried doing it and when he called they gave him such a runaround that he gave up and threw them out.

You do not go through Canadian border patrol on the way out.

Driving to the US does not require a 72 hour PCR, correct.

If you are a US citizen you only need your passport "Please hand me only your passports. Remove any information about vaccines or the like"

YES! As did the others I spoke to.

Coming soon: people who flew not being allowed onto flights back
we just entered canada, with 3 teen agers and 1 under 12 who were not vaxed, my wife and i were vaxed.

we no issue less then 2 minutes, we were not asked for the PCR papers, we were not given those test kits. however got an email that the 3 teen agers are in quarentine etc.

i guess it depends on the border agent

Just drove through through the border into ca.
Did arrivecan app.
2 of us canadian citizens, 1 not, but vaxxed.
Only one of us is staying - a citizen, the rest are heading back.

They asked to see pcr, barely looked at it.

Gave the one staying 2 test kits.

That was it BH.

OTTAWA—As the federal government defends its current travel restrictions, a new report has exposed significant gaps in how the Public Health Agency of Canada previously administered and enforced border control measures intended to limit the spread of COVID-19 and its variants.

The 29-page report, tabled in the House of Commons Thursday afternoon, focuses on auditor general Karen Hogan’s examination of whether the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) improved how it implemented and enforced mandatory quarantine orders from July 2020 to June 2021. It also looked at how the agency tested travellers entering Canada and followed up with air passengers who quarantined at government-authorized hotels.

The report, which was released with three other studies of the government’s pandemic response, follows an audit completed in March that uncovered weaknesses in how PHAC previously enforced quarantine orders. At the time, the agency agreed with recommendations to strengthen its systems and practices.

Hogan found that PHAC did make some improvements to how it tracked traveller compliance with quarantine orders. From May to June 2020, the agency was in the dark regarding the status of 66 per cent of travellers — a number that dropped to 37 per cent as of June 2021.

“This is not a success story,” Hogan told reporters following the audit’s release. “The agency’s inability to confirm whether more than one third of travellers complied with quarantine orders remains a significant problem.”

The improvements are linked to Ottawa’s decision to collect travellers’ contact information electronically through the use of the ArriveCAN app, rather than using a paper-based form.

But the government’s tracking shortfalls also extend to other border measures, painting an alarming picture of just how well Ottawa is doing keeping COVID-19 outside Canada’s borders.

PHAC, the report notes, was either missing or unable to match 30 per cent of COVID-19 test results for incoming travellers between February and June 2021. The agency also did not possess records of stay for 75 per cent of air passengers arriving in Canada, meaning the government could not know if people quarantining for 72 hours in government-approved facilities were complying with the orders.

They let me in but kept us for an hour and a half over details of my kids quarantine.

"7 of you were tested at exactly the same time?"

The line at the border going in was a 90 min wait.
 But bh no problems.
Gave us 16 Kits, not sure why? We didn't have 8 poeple in the car.
And didn't bother with the arrive CAN app.

90 min YIKES! that's after how many hours of driving?! and I'm sure there was traffic to get to Toronto too! Did you do the arriveCan because I think it may link to your passport when they scan it..

Coming from Brooklyn going to Toronto. The ironic part was it was close to 11pm at night.
At that time of night you would think there would be no traffic. Was at the queenston lewiston bridge if that makes a difference. There were only 2 lanes open, but after an hr of waiting someone decided to open a 3rd lane.
We probably traveled already for close to 6-7hrs.

None of us filled in the arrive CAN app. And only one person was vaccinated. He did ask if we're vaccinated, we told him only one and he wanted to see the card. It seemed all he cared about was the PCR tests.
Didn't care about anything else. Didn't meantion anything about quarantine or where to quarantine, or even how to use the early X-mas presents he gave us. . just asked if we have everything, which I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean.

And off we went. Though I've been across the border since covid multiple times if that makes a difference.

The lines can get long when they go through more paperwork for each and every car.

It does link to your passport.
