Police gain the power to stop and question anyone at will, and to ticket anyone who in their opinion has no valid reason to be outside.

My wife and many of her friends are particularly relieved about the second one.

I’ve heard anecdotally that a number of Canadian families are now refugees in Lakewood until the insanity there ends, so they and their kids can have a semblance of  normalcy.

Not gonna turn this thread into a referendum on universal healthcare, but I have a lot of relatives in Canada (and the UK), and none of them are happy about it.

Look at public opinion polls, not members of a community which votes 95%+ Republican. The numbers are unequivocal.

One relative in Canada had to wait over a year for simple cataract surgery which could have been scheduled and done in a matter of weeks here, and another relative with cancer had to rig US health insurance because the treatment in Canada would have killed him 3 years quicker.

For every story like that, there are 10 fundraising campaigns for families crushed by medical bills. There are pros and cons to each system, but the idea that every developed country in the world 'hasn't learned anything' because their citizens prioritize equity over quality is remarkably close minded. America would be the same way if it was controlled by the majority of its citizens.

Canada's problem is that as a small country they gave up on manufacturing vaccines of all kinds years ago. They are dependent on a foreign supply chain, and are scrambling like western countries all over the world for vaccines.

This has nothing to do with universal health care.

Personally, I've lived in both  New York and Ontario for over 20 years each, and while both healthcare systems cause frustrations some times, I much prefer the Ontario system.

I need a car service that's avlb for the 25th of April to take someone from BUF airport to Toronto(meaning all the way to Bathurst)..

 Prefer one person to cross and take them all the way.

 Or if no other options will do one to cross and then one to take from the border to Toronto.

True. But even outside of the frum world, not everyone is naive.

There is a stay at home order, and there are still massive traffic all around the city.

It's all optics, that's for sure.  Trudeau is all about optics.  Out of over 50,000 tests on travelers crossing the land borders since the new rules were introduced there was approximately 100 positive tests.  And how many of those were actually not false positives.

On April 23, the Day 10 test at home was changed to be taken on Day 8.  Yet, I have not seen anything explaining the reason for the change.  Does anyone know?

I suspect that people were complaining that their quarantine is prolonged to 16 or 17 days because supposedly you have to remain in quarantine until you receive a negative result of your day 10 test
