The press is full with reports that Canada is preparing to open its border to vaccinated travelers. Perhaps this will be announced on or before the current restrictions are set to expire on June 22.

Hardly. It's simply an improvement from the past 15 months. Does anyone know why, to this day, the CDC requires a COVID test for fully vaccinated persons to enter the US?

My Covid test result taken Monday hasn’t arrived and I’m flying to BUF today. I’m afraid something got messed up at Quest. It’s never taken so long. There’s a rapid test in the airport but Canada doesn’t accept antigen tests. What should I do when I get to BUF?

A few ideas:

Is there anywhere else that you can go for a 2nd test with quicker results? Wasn't there a guy in monsey that guarantees a few hours? Not sure where you're located. (Or was that antigen?)

You can fly to BUF in hopes that you get results by the time you're there, and stay overnight in BUF if you don't.

Look for somewhere in BUF that does quick PCRs.

How big are the fines for not providing a test? (Assuming you're a Canadian citizen) If you have an antigen test and a PCR in progress maybe they'll waive/reduce the fine as you can show them you tried?

I just boarded my flight to ATL then connecting to BUF. I have my vaccination card but of course Canada doesn’t recognize that contrary to its own expert panel. I imagine they can’t refuse a citizen entry even without a test. And they test you at the border again. Can I offer to go to a government facility until the border test comes back?

They can fine you for coming without a test
