Canada closing borders to most travellers who are not citizens

Did they get rid of the rapid testing upon entry?

I drove in via the Peace Bridge last night and there was no red cross guy there and the border guard didn't mention any test. (Fully vaccinated so no day 7 test either.)

The testing for vaccinated persons is random.  I've never heard of Canada offering rapid tests.  And despite being vaccinated, I received the daily emails about quarantining for 14 days.

Was never a thing. They give you a self home test kit, but that's also YMMV.

They moved the testing to an off site location,  It's by the race track. A minute detour off the highway.

    While for those who are fully vaccinated they don't require the PCR upon arrival nor do they require the 8th day test. As well you don't have to quarantine.

  While for those who are not vaccinated they require you to take A PCR either at home or on site and then 8 days later another one.
 As well you need quarantine for 14 days.

    In the past I had to show my Canadian Citizenship card but recently when I went across they told me it's not needed.
    I'm assuming that's because they're allowing whomever to come across now?

I guess I can find out on Sunday.

  Have been going across over the past 1 to 2 years they always offered it either at home or on site.
  Though if I had to take a guess over 50% don't bother taking it at all, Especially if you are Canadian citizen.

Since I didn't want to be bothered and I wanted to show in the system that I'm complying with everything they wanted, I pulled off the highway for 5 minutes and did the covid swab test and continued on my way..

Alright, but the Switch Health tests were not rapid. There was a 2 day turn around time, if you were lucky.

You might need both doses to be free from the 14 day quarantine.
   All you need to do is take a day 1 and day 8 covid test with the Switch Health kits they give you. And Quarantine for 14 days.

 He didn't spend a second more then 45 seconds from when I pulled up to his window until I left, so didn't want to waste his time.

I take it the border patrol agent you're referring to was a US CBP agent?  Why would you ask a US agent about who can enter Canada?

"The vaccination rule will apply to air passengers age 12 and older flying on domestic, transborder or international flights departing from airports in Canada"
Meaning that if you're unvaccinated and over 12 you CANNOT BOARD ANY PLANE IN CANADA

As with the rules for federal civil servants, full vaccination will mean receiving the second dose at least two weeks before travel, the government said.

So...if someone is in Israel - Covid recoveree and one shot and travels to Canada - they won't be able to get on a plane to leave Canada?

According to U.S. officials, Canadians crossing the border will be questioned about their vaccination status by border agents.

Proof of vaccination will only be required if a traveller is sent for secondary screening, the government officials said on the call.
