Quarantine for 14 days? How is that helping the situation?
« on: March 16, 2020, 12:42:20 AM »
So how does this work? You land in TLV, take a taxi to your quarantine location, and infect the taxi driver who passes it on to hundreds of subsequent non quarantined passengers?

Yes the whole thing doesn't make much sense, the shuls are telling members who were out of the country that they should go into quarantine at home for 14 days, now let's say the father was out of the country, and the children remained at home, so the children can go to shul while the father has to stay home?
The father passes The COVID19 to the children and they go to shul?
What good is placing in quarantine the father?
Now that's where the father has the flu, but in a case which were not sure if he has a flu or not what would it have helped by placing him in quarantine?
If people who are in contact with him and catch the same flu what is the quarantine all about?

Is this like the gemara reshon lituma shaniyah lituma, hence if someone who had the COVID19 was in contact with someone we will place him in quarantine on the slight chance he caught it and the ability to pass it on is slightly less than someone who in fact fissure has it?
I guess that's the whole reason?
But then again it's not helping for the kids if in fact he did catch it, and the kids are partying outside..

Everyone who was in contact with someone who has tested positive should be quarantined. So if the father would chv get Covid-19 all the children would have to be isolated as well.

Okay that would make more sense.

But how is that helping for someone who's coming back from out of the country?
Meaning someone came to NJ from Canada and left the kids at home, and wants to go back to Canada they need to go into quarantine?
What good is going into quarantine if the kids are going to be in contact with him unless you're going to quarantine the kids as well?

Correct. If he comes into contact with his family, they need to quarantine as well. At first this wasn’t really taken seriously.

It won't be effective unless everyone he is in contact with quarantines as well. This should include the driver who drove him home.
On the flip side, he should get tested right away and if he gets a negative result he should be cleared from quarantine.

How does quarantining help in general?

Let's say family member 0 has the virus, the entire family is locked up together. However, since it's a family with young kids, they show no symptoms.

How would we know or prevent this?

It is not an all or nothing proposition. Slowing the spread down can make a tremendous difference.

If the whole family gets infected they are quarantined together. You can also quarantine individual members of the family in the same house. Everyone should have a plan for this by now. What you don't want is the infected member/s out in the general public. I have yet to see any expert say social distancing doesn't help.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

That's the whole point. It doesn't matter if one family gets it if they don't spread it to others

If the family members pass it around one at a time then 14 days will not be long enough to quarantine.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

How long do you think it takes to go from person A to person B who are living together and not separating from each other?

doesn't it take between 5 and 14 days? So then you should all quarantine for 28 at least...
Not to mention that if people had it they may need to quarantine longer
