Anyone have any tips or helpful video resources for this one? Either with a peanut or real machine? Do i even attempt a scissor cut on top?

Real machine works a lot better, but the peanut/trimmers are better for around the ears and peyos. Scissor cut can be done, either by using your fingers to make it even or a comb, but a comb is much harder. If you're fading, always stop a little before the spot you usually fade, just so you don't cut too much. You can always cut more off; you can't put the hair back if you cut too much.

Biggest tip: it all grows back. And if it doesn't, it's not because of one bad haircut.

Don't try scissors-you only want a haircut not a earcut.

I got something like this (a plug-in version) years ago, still works great:

I do blue for the sides and back, a little longer for the top, and longest possible for the front.

Not the fanciest haircut in the world, but my goal is not to impress people - my goal is that people don't look at me and say,"So, cut your own hair again last night?"

I've been doing this for over 10 years, and aside from the cost savings, it's so convenient I cannot imagine eve going back to a barber.

I used the peanut. The 4 on it is pretty short.  Was a little jarring at first but then got over it. No one's gonna see me anyway for who knows how long.
