If we could turn back the clock
« on: June 26, 2020, 02:37:59 PM »
If we could turn back the clock 12 months, knowing what we know now, what should  be done different? Let’s try to keep this to facts and not get political, as there’s enough blame to go around

It seems to me, that things are still not so clear. Of course we shoulda had more PPE and had more ventilators, and not send sick people to nursing homes.
But should we have locked down earlier? It doesn’t seem so simple.
What’s about requiring masks while out of your house? That still seems up for debate
What about treatments? Do doctors know anymore now than before?

The federal government shouldn't have had the monopoly on tests.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

If we had an option to turn back the clock I wouldn’t take it. The death rate would be lower from our better knowledge, but there still won’t be mask wearing or attempts at a lockdown because Americans need their freedom too much. We’d get hit harder than the first time. I’m better off with a BS excuse that everyone was ignorant about COVID, than to see a controllable outbreak devastate our country due to politics and stupidity.

Ban the eating of undercooked bats, and regulate the live animal markets (health inspectors etc.) like regular food establishments.

Restrict travel but not people.

No form of outgoing travel will be allowed, and countries will only allow in their citizens. (With as few high priority exemptions as possible).

At the very onset (while it was relatively contained in Wuhan) every country should have frozen their borders.

Exceptions can be made for citizens coming home but they will be required (with the full brunt of the law) to quarantine for 2 weeks (whether in hotels or at home alone).

Seniors and immuno-compromised would be require to isolate strictly and immediately upon the onset of a breakout in a specific location. Everyone else would still be able to work and run life as usual.

What this would accomplish, is far fewer and more controlled outbreaks but life (aside for the travel industry) would continue with schools and businesses operating as usual.

Thus, more time would be focused on the preparation of tests and development of cures/vaccines without hospitals being overrun.

Also the public should intervene early and maybe create an independent medical board free of political agendas that would call the shots (literally and figuratively).

This might not be the best forum for such a suggestion... 😜

And how exactly does this stop COVID from leaking from a lab? There’s zero evidence pointing at it starting in the wet markets.
