Fact: Online college is cheaper than on campus college.

You can't compare. For the college it's about a marginal cost of an extra student being very low, while bringing in positive cash flow. IINM Jewish schools don't generate positive cash flow from tuition paid by talmidim. There's always a shortfall that needs to be covered.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Online college is not at all comparable to a Jewish elementary school.
Of course not. But I'm sure we can all agree that there are components of a hybrid online school that can be cheaper than a traditional school.

And more than compensated by the components which will cost more.

We shall see. I am sure there will be a mainstream online school come out of this era...

So without the added cost of a building, online school has a possible chance of not running at a (major?) deficit like regular schools do.

If they lower tuition proportionate to “the cost” of the building, it doesn’t help the school at all.

The cost of the building is a very small portion of expenses and sometimes bring in income to pay for itself if they are able to rent out parts of it for use. Energy is really a small blip of the expenses of a school.

Not sure why you're dragging me into the building cost argument.

I'm with @aygart on this, payroll is the major expense (and the most important one) of a school.

That's beside for the fact that the only real asset a school has is its teachers (and other human capital). One can have a school without a building, without utilities, without meals, etc. But without educational staff there is nothing, which is why payroll should always be the first priority of any school.

Indeed, as the one existing Jewish Online school (for shluchim) can attest.

My incredulity, and from knowing them I presume the incredulity of @ExGingi and @S209 , was not at all due to preference but rather because it would be a poor way to be mechanech your children.

I know many shluchim who have kids in the online school, and I cannot think of one who thinks it's as good as having brick and mortar school.

And I don't think that the fact that it is working well for some people now (under these crazy circumstances) means that those people would like it if it was permanent.

Why would COVID stop me from doing only cashless?

It should make all stores refuse to accept cash. They are petri dishes

If you hand them your credit card it's not that much better

Tap to pay? Self swipe? Either way swiping is a lot better than cash. Your card only comes in contact with 1 person each transaction

Tap / insert / swipe it yourself. Stores that are still using old equipment should upgrade to not require handing it over.

Additionally, it’s much easier to disinfect a card after someone else touches it..

Will there be a large decrease in demand for barber? Now that so many people bought their own machines and realized the haircuts are not rocket science, especially the classic frum haircuts. I find  going to the barber really inconvenient, between wait times (even with appointments) and itchy hairy head after. Add in the fact that costs are up to $20+ after tip, and I’m left scratching my head as to why this has gone on for so long.........

After going to any Jewish barber in Lakewood I end up fixing it myself anyways.
