Barbers should continue to wear facemasks for haircuts

Will there be a large decrease in demand for barber? Now that so many people bought their own machines and realized the haircuts are not rocket science, especially the classic frum haircuts. I find  going to the barber really inconvenient, between wait times (even with appointments) and itchy hairy head after. Add in the fact that costs are up to $20+ after tip, and I’m left scratching my head as to why this has gone on for so long.........

We always had haircuts at home. If you have even just 3 boys/men you can buy a good machine and cover the cost after one or two times not going to the barber.

I have my own machine and have been giving myself haircuts for a long time already.

I scratch my head when I see people paying upwards of $25-$30 for a simple haircut that should take 15 minutes

makes me want to go into the business, $100/hour sounds nice ;)
120 characters? Hmm, I wonder what I could write with 64 characters. Boy, it's gonna be hard to use up 15 characters. W-

Speaking as a friend to many barbers, many barbers are not making too much money.

Maybe it actually takes a little more than 15 minutes per haircut and there might be some other expenses.

There’s that, and the fact that haircuts are bunched into certain times of the day, week, and month, so it’s not actually a 40 hour a week job of nonstop haircuts. If they have a shop there are many expenses to pay and if they are working in someone else’s shop they only get about half the money.

I believe as a society there has been a massive acceleration of digital adaptation for sales and services that will stick. I think we have gone through 2+ years of adaption in the past 2 months as some of the highest hanging fruit (laggards) have been forced to shop on amazon for the first time, use facetime for the first time, etc.

Some random thoughts

-the typical stuff, more online commerce and b&m retail closing
-Zoom/facetime, mobile gaming up
-I think gyms are big losers as many people were forced to youtube to keep their workouts going...and learned for the first time the massive prevalence of free high quality workout content.
-I personally don't think beauty (barbor shops/nail salons etc) will suffer long term, there is still a desire for professional beauty help people can't/don't want to DIY imo
-I think movie theaters are fine as long as they continue to innovate with fancy seating etc

Regarding gyms, they make most of their money on people who never actually show up. Although some people may cancel their membership now there will always be new suckers next New Years. I don't see much an effect long term.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Or plenty of people signing up after being allowed to finally go out into normal life. You just gave me an investment idea - maybe weight loss companies might be doing well after this.
