How to Continue TORAH Safely
« on: March 17, 2020, 07:50:05 AM »
STAY HOME, yes.
Stop Torah? NO!!

Where is the committee to brainstorm how to continue Minyanim, Kriyas Hatorah, Limud, Chavrusas, Batei Midrash, yeshivas, etc during these times??

Virtual learning for those who have devices (yeshivas, chavrusas)
dedicated-locked devices (tablets?) for those who don't usually use phones
teleconferences for live shiurim
chavrusas by phone
davening under doorposts of the open front door to one's apartment to create a minyan on a floor of an apartment building
listening to torah being read outside from one's balcony/porch, etc.

Please let us brainstorm here and maybe even develop programs or software (parnosa) for some!
We, at DDF, have the brainpower, collective knowledge, and initiative to make a difference for our communities, country, and world!
Let's do it!!

Stay safe, stay home, and CONTINUE TORAH and minyanim.

it's all going on. What community do you live in? Our school have out locked  whitelistchrome books dedicated for online classes. Daf yomi, oraysa, smichas chaver shuirim all being held remotely.  In addition to a slew of new online shuirim and courses . Chavrusas over the phone. Though anyone who travels and maintains a chavrusah is fairly used to that.

Not sure how the teachers over the phone is going to work. Every kid is going to need it at the same time. I don’t have that many phone lines.

Some schools are giving each class a different (short) time slot.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Some schools are giving each class a different (short) time slot.
And then you have to factor in different schools too.

And find someone to babysit the Morah's kids during her time slot

Maybe schools should get back to the basics and strengthen those.  Multiple ages can listen to the same lesson (thinking secular classes).
Shorter lessons that essentially teach short lessons, give assignments, then monitor with incentives to keep up.
There could be one long lesson per grade per day.

Chabad has great software.  They have been doing virtual, international classrooms for years.  Check it out.  Only $15 per student!!!  ($400 minimum to begin which is around 25 students or just pay the $400)

I don't have any school age kids yet. My downstairs neighbor has five. So, I lent them a phone. Maybe you can find someone near you that can do that.

If you don't already use All Daf, now is the time to start. Daf Yomi shiurim as well as related Daf content including Jewish history, Nach, lomdus etc related to the Daf.
Don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers
