Source?  This is a piece of information that i need adsp
I spoke to a school administrator just now. He said it isn’t clear yet but highly unlikely parsonage would be included. Btw He said cross river bank is not letting schools put parsonage on the application.

FWIU there is no official guidance on this yet. Some banks are including parsonage as Payroll for the loan amount calculation.
That would be amazing! Which banks are allowing parsonage to be included?

Don't know. This is what I was told;

Quote
Heard from several small banks who ARE accepting it (when well documented).  Others who are NOT.

That’s what they deserve to receive according to choshen mishpat even without continuing to teach via teleconference/zoom.
By playgroups the practical application of this psak is straightforward but when it comes to schools he wasn’t clear about who bears the brunt. But one might argue that there’s no difference-25%/girls school and 50%/boys school.

So basically, moving forward we should be paying playgroups 25% for each month we don’t send?

Correct. However, he’s speaking to the Israelis regarding a ganenet so could be it’s different than in the USA but don’t see why

The wage gap lives on. If Halacha says they are owed x, how is gender relevant?

That’s what they deserve to receive according to choshen mishpat even without continuing to teach via teleconference/zoom.

And if they continue to teach partial hours? They’re owed the 25/50% plus whatever hours they teach? Or 100% for the hours they teach and 25/50% for the rest?

Can somebody please explain why playgroups are different than other businesses?
Before corona, I paid every week for a lady to watch my kid X hours.
I paid every week for a lady to come clean my house X hours.
Let’s say I also paid an instructor weekly to come show me how to exercise, a barber or makeup lady, a music teacher, an art teacher.....

I’m not hearing anyone say to pay X% of the regular amount to people in these other professions.
(Yes, I know they’re less common)

Did you sign up to use these other people for the whole year?  Because your playgroup teacher is doing what she does because x amount of people told her they will send their kids the whole year, now to back out on that commitment isn't right. OTOH if any of those professionals you also had a commitment for a whole year, maybe you should still pay %
I'm not who you think I am.

Annual contracts. You often have to pay to get out of them. It's not unreasonable.

My annual flat rate staffing contracts with big companies are being cancelled...
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing...
My wife has a playgroup which is low on zoom and most parents have been paying. Just that your comparison doesn't match up with reality. Staffing contracts are being cancelled left and right without paying penalties.

Are there provisions in the contract that allow them to do that without penalty?

Yes

Most schools, AFAIK, don't have those provisions, neither in their tuition contracts, nor in their employment contracts.

All I can say about this topic is that seeing and hearing my kids learning this week, just increased my appreciation to their schools and teachers, and my motivation to pay tuition.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I hear, but there’s nothing special about the time period of a year.
What might make more sense, is that there’s a group of people that got together and hired one person.
Or that you committed to “a slot”.
