How should schools and parents deal with tuition?

I wrote a short post on the Florida universal school choice bill that passed in March, which provides ~8k per private school student (link in signature below).
After reading through some relevant parts of the bill and speaking to Floridians, as well as to some Ohio (which has some vouchers) and Arizona (which has universal school choice) residents, I must say that it looks much better on paper than in reality, and will benefit schools more than students. We can expect to see an increase in private school tuition next year, and while it probably won't go up to by $8k/student, it will largely cut into this benefit (not to mention that lower income households in FL have already had access to vouchers for the past few years, so this doesn't make much a difference to them, and they'll be hit with the tuition increase as well).

Most frum schools already have the vast majority of their students on the vouchers. It really doesn't change much for us.

How much is tuition for FL frum elementary school? Curious if the parents are paying similar to NY pricing after vouchers.

For the ages the vouchers apply to, generally 15k and up. So parents are paying 7k+ without scholarships.

I got a number from someone who charges $1000 for the application...

What i want to know if anyone filed on their own, or these ppl know the ins and out and can get it quicker....

BR is guiding parents through the process for free.

That kind of money made sense a year or more ago, when ACS had a years long waiting list, and the only way around it was HRA, much tougher process. Now with hochul new expanded eligibility, I can't see paying that kind of application help.

When they look at the income do they base it off whats current or the previous year?

Gov Hochul announced new online screening tool that will help parents determine their eligibility for financial support from the state’s Child Care Assistance Program for low or no-cost child care.

They're working on rolling out more tools as well as more childcare programs, vouchers, and tax credits.

It will greatly benefit the upper middle class, they usually get squeezed from all sides, between high income taxes and no tuition breaks.

It will also help those close to the income limit be able to earn more without the fear of losing $50k because they make another $10k.

Don't get me wrong: it's not a bad thing when money comes in to the community from outside. It may create opportunities. I just don't see it as the massive coup that it's being touted as.

Do it yourself online.. it's super easy, took me 15 min.

Most of you are probably already aware of this program, but the benefit has been raised from $500 to $1,000- for those already enrolled the benefit amount will be increased automatically- a new application is not required.
