Not to active on DDF these days. But a clear point mentioned before.

The numbers are skewed.

I personally know of over 25 people that had/have every covid-19 symptom and did not get tested. In many areas DR's are telling patients if they dont have a  problem breathing then just stay home and isolate yourself.

I even know of a case where someone with problems breathing was told by DR. to stay home as long as possible "the hospitals are worse", BH that person is doing better.

Point being is the numbers are skewed.

We hear a lot that the numbers are skewed. Well in the beginning we only heard of the severe cases, because otherwise no one would notice. Afterwards we started testing a lot more. But now it seems that they stopped testing people with minor symptoms. How much does it make a difference in understanding how bad the situation is? Well it depends. If we expect 10-20% hospitalization rate based on previous studies, what good is it if we find out 30-40% of those testing positive need hospitalization? So we're testing the people that need to be hospitalized, that means confirmed cases are much worse on average than what they could be.

I did see some NYC hospitalization data, don't remember where though.

Unaware of anyone whom is confident about most numbers. It's all a guessing game. Especially because, you know, China.

Here?

Showing new cases doubling today after having been flat for a few days.

Looking for help in fighting Corona

We (a group from Israel working with many scientists including in Carnegie
Mellon University) are working on collecting voice data from people with
Corona.  This may enable us to detect Corona from voice.  If it works (and
it currently looks very promising), one could ask people to provide a voice
sample on their phone, and detect if they are carrying the virus.  This will
be a very important help to the effort to stop the spread.  To develop the
test, we need voice samples of people diagnosed with the virus. All the data
collection effort is done by volunteers and no one is being paid.
You can see more about it in
https://www.freethinkcom/articles/detecting-coronavirus
This could save a lot of lives.  If you were diagnosed with the Corona
virus, please send us your voice sample ASAP via this link:
https://voca.ai/coronavirus/
Please help as soon as you can as time is of the essence.
Thanks,
Dr. Shmuel Ur, Shorashim, Israel

I don't believe it's going to work, but site looks legit. It's based on Artificial Intelligence.

No, that's all cases, not hospitalizations. I think you posted that as well.
Basically take all confirmed cases (perhaps with something like a 3 day lag) and divide it by the total NYC corona hospitalizations. If the percentage is over 20%, it's not so reassuring that we know about untested positives.

Sounds like a moonshot to be able to detect Corona early from voice. How likely is it that voice is affected before symptoms start or at early stages? Even if voice is affected, accurate detection is ambitious.

Based on this https://covidtracking.com/data/state/new-york/ the hospitalization rate of confirmed cases as of 3/26 is just over 18%. I would consider that very good news.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

There is no shortage of ventilators in NY. That can change based on projections.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I don't think there's an accurate shortage currently it may depend on location and facilities, some places may have a shortage at some point ?

Part of what I'm reading is that there is an uneven balance between ICU facilies and elderly in terms of geography.

Know someone who passed away last night. Wasn't put on a ventilator because he's over 70. Maybe there isn't an actual shortage yet, but they're definitely rationing.

Who said this was the reason?

Name names. Without info this is meaningless. They are NOT rationing. If someone needs a vent they are getting a vent. This is just not true as a general rule. There MUST be other reasons unless proven otherwise.
